I loan my neighbors stuff, it doesn't bother me any. I think a few on here are just a "bit" materialistic! A splitter is fairly cheap and simple, would be pretty tough to really screw it up. Mine is just sitting in the weeds anyhow, use it once in a blue moon to split bit stuff that won't pass through the processors.
Loaned one neighbor a bunch of carpenter tools so he could build a shed... nail guns, levels, air compressor, chop saw, etc. A few months later he and his wife watched my place and took care of my dog for several weeks when I was out of state. Wouldn't even take $100, reminded me several times that I had loaned out all those tools.
The next year I borrowed his game camera to see what was getting in my chicken coop, and that fall I he helped me kill and butcher most of the big ducks and chickens and used his vaccum packer. Wouldn't even let me buy a roll of plastic for it, even though I did and set it out on his porch when he wasn't home, so he had to take it.
