...what's it gonna be?

Can be new or used, what are you guys looking for, and why?

For me, I am after a 385XP or a 2186 with a full wrap handle. I like the way they feel in my hands, like the filtration and overall look of the saw, and the local dealers are pretty good people. I have tossed around the idea of a 7900 Dolmar, but the 6400,7300,7900 saws just don't do it for me. I am not talking about power, cause that 7900 sure rips, and has very nice antivibe. But, for some reason they don't feel quite right in my hands. I hate the bucking spikes - they aren't really functional, dislike that it can't be purchased with a full wrap handle, and the air filter seems somewhat undersized to me. I love my 5100 - wouldn't trade it. But the 7900 seems to have hi-po race engine packaged in a Yugo chassis. Come on Dolmar, step up and offer PRO features with your PRO saw.

I would like to see a 660/395/9010 shoot-out. I know Timberhauler did the 660/395 comparison (thank you - the fuel use report was great!) but I think it would be beneficial to see some cut times and a fueled/oiled ready-to-cut weigh-in. Might be a GREAT test to do at a GTG where said saws might all be there at the same time.

Ive been considering a 372, but from the praise that the 7900 gets from members here, I would consider it an option also. Im hoping to be able to try out both saws at the up-coming Ohio GTG.

Well seeing that I started looking at 50cc size saws last fall and ended up buying a Husky 365 Special yesterday, my next saw is going to be a 50cc size saw. I'm going to buy from the same dealer so I'll probably get a Husky 353 with 16" b&c. A 353 and 365 would make the prefect combo for me! ;)

Dunno, think I'm set for a while.

I sometimes think I'd be better off with a 441 than my 460. But then sometimes I think a 660 would be better than my 460...

So Im probably just fine and dandy;)

I'm thinking 288xp will be my next. Thinkin also about getting a j red , 70's model, 60 to 70 cc's to play with. I need to look into them more to see what models, etc. Of course if my buddy comes through with the pile of old saws he told me he can get me......who knows?

Not that I needed it, but I just picked up a stock 361 that was bought July 2006 and used a month and half.
I have a DN357 and may get to try a DN361 at the Ohio gtg 2007 if it shows up. If i see where there is gains to be made with a 361 it my end up on a surgical table somewhere and go to the next level of mods and leave the DN357 alone, because it is fast for a woods ported saw itself.

Hmmmmm

I don't know. My last one (a used 371) hasn't been here 24 hours yet.

I need another one like a third teat, but I'm pretty sure our next chain saw will be a small Dolmar, like a PS-401 or maybe a PS-5100S. Gotta spread the love around...

But some silly little monkey inside my brain keeps saying an MS200 rear handle would be a fine way to blow the rent money. And the gorilla in there is whispering that a MS660 would be 'all the saw I ever need'

What's "great" (or awful, depending how one looks at it) is that I found a great new dealer. Amick's is just a 45 min drive north. Far enough away to not become habit forming, but close enough to get a fix.

new Chainaw how do you convince the wife

In have a chance to buy a John deere cs81 foo 700$ canadian cash only used 2 time my buddy bought it for a tax write off over a year ago not sure how good these saws are. Also can buy brand new with warrante Husky 365 for 699$ canadian plus taxes. As i'll be cutting about 10 + bushcord each yr how do you convince the wife that you need this saw when she think i should buy one fro home depot or canadian tire for about 200$.

Probably a 372. My 440 is running great after the rebuild so I keep going back and forth on this.

All this talk about Dolmars has me interested but the nearest dealer is fifty miles from me and I doubt they are into saws much. My local Husky/Stihl dealer is a real saw shop and I'm spoiled so will probably stick to Husky and Stihl.

I'm waiting for the 066 BB kits to get the bugs worked out...got a couple of tired saws I want to try that on. The only new saws I have planned for this year are a couple of 660s. The 066s will probably make it through one more season and I'm really curious about the BB kit.

A 660 or 066.

Asked my dealer for a quote the other day, and she came back with $959 for a new 660 w/24" bar and chain. Giving that serious thought, but now I'm hearing that one of the techs there has an 066 he's rebuilding to sell. Haven't had a chance to talk with him directly about it, but I know it's got a newe OEM P&C in it.

Decisions, decisions...

That's not a bad price on the 660. Where in Mississippi is Hancock County? I spent some some down there years ago and it sounds familiar.

The next Stihl saw I'd like to get is a 036, 044, or 046. My reason for wanting these models of saws is the fact that they would be a large upgrade from what I have, better parts availability, and they can keep up with my friends Husky.

Now..........all I need is to find a good deal on one of these.

Southwestern corner -- Lousiana is the western border, Gulf of Mexico is the southern. Used to be the moonshine capital of the USA. ;) Where were you?
