First, I made the BAD decision a year or so ago to put these things on. Trust me I WON'T MISS THEM!

For the love of GOD what was I thinking... Look at them.. What was the Pro Safety thinking? They actually make your saw run worse! They drag the saw into the cut, and stall the chain.

Oh yeah, she's sexier!!! I didn't think it would be possible!
Overall, I'm happy with the outcome, not only does it look better, but it'll be more functional. And of course, it's always fun working on a saw!

The MS 460 is a looker alright, even without the add-ons, but I must say I like that handlebar, and the smaller spikes look so much better on her.

Great looking saw. My 460 project looks very similar. I also used the Bailey's muffler and made the mistake of buying the pro safety spikes.

Just got a large clutch cover, chip deflector, roller catcher and outer dog. Once the Sugihara bar arrives, I think I will be done with this one and can turn my focus towards a rear handled MS200...

Thanks for the comments guys....

Raganr: I don't know if you can see from the pic, but that's the Baliey's DP muffler on this saw. Just a warning, the paint will blister off, and it will start to rust pretty quickly. I still have the stock muffler, I think I'm going to order the Stihl DP cover. It's a much nicer piece.

I gotta get me a 3/4 wrap for my 044.
I'll be felling some larger trees on my property that are situated on a fairly steep slope, so I can see the need or usefullness of them.....AND...they look cool.

Not willing to dish out $150 for OEM however.....looks like I'll be ordering the USA bar from Madsens in the near future:cool2:

law child, dat saw done tuk muh bref away. I dun got to feelin all swimmy heady. I had to go get muh glasses and sad-down :cool2:. Please don't put no moe pitchers of it up! It's making me :alien2: wif envy!:D

you know its cheaper to buy the complete clutch cover assembly from stihl which comes with everything.

who ever is charging 150 for the oem 3/4 handle is ripping you off. retail is like 109ish. still not as cheap as the USA handle bar.

Here's some handy kit numbers:

Large clutch cover with big dogs and chain catcher: 1128 640 1708
3/4 wrap handlebar: 1128 790 3616

Man,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that is one FUGLY lookin saw !!!
of course ALL stihl's are so no big deal :)

i put the bailys cover on my oem muffler ,kept the baffle inside ,didnt remove it ,and opened the factory 460 side opening to about the size of the bailys one with a dremil ,that deflector will keep the hot flame away from the dualport cover and not cook the paint off so easy ,a good wood stove paint works good on mufflers ,i usually heat the metal on the muffler before i paint so the woodstove paint sticks better ,i bought a stihl one ,the oem paint comes off just as easy as the aftermarket ones ,the bailys muffler has no baffle like a oem ms440 so the exhaust hits directly to the dualport cover
