I'm no expert on these, but I do know that there's all kinds of variations of the 1128 series. All kinds of parts swap between them.
I think the cut off serial for the slant is 129.....? , the only odd thing that I think about that saw is why it doesn't have flip caps?

so, here's the story. the guy had a bunch of old saws. the complete saw had monster compression both felt when pull starting (these puppies should have decomps for us old fellas) and when drop testing holding the starter handle. it fired right up, sounded great and idled nicely. I noticed the new aftermarket muffler. he said the old muffler was trashed. I noticed the muffler outer cover only had 2 screws in it. I asked the guy if the piston and cylinder looked good when he changed the muffler. he said they were great.

I had a scrench in my pocket and spent some time looking at some other saws to let the muffler cool. he had a pretty nice 026 powerhead. I removed the muffler cover (the guy looked nervous). both rings were stuck. the cylinder looked great but of course I couldn't see the exhaust side. In a nice way I told him he was a liar and he said he'd knock a hundred off. I acted ready to leave and he threw in the parts saw. which also has stuck rings but some other good parts. actually I would have paid the 300 anyway as I like to fix good saws.

it's amazing to me that a saw with 2 stuck rings could have that much compression, start right up, sound great and idle so nicely. I lightly ball honed the cylinder in the stream from my parts washer and it cleaned up pretty good. can barely feel the marks with a wire point dental pick. need to decide whether to use it or get a NOS cyl/piston kit off ebay.

both 12mm I guess. don't most prefer the 10mm ones?

I think there's very little difference between the two, most saw reviews are dependent upon nostalgia.
Ive run a stock 12mm at work which was not well taken care of and it was a decent saw.
I cant really say definfinity as I've done work to both of mine. Cleaning up the exhaust port and losing the base gasket certainly helps.
I wouldn't hesitate to build that saw ,with all the AM support and oem plentiful parts its a real softball build.
