BIG old saws... Some guy wants to sell me a peachey (almost pristene) Dolmar CT... but... it's not my type of saw :greenchainsaw:

Hey Lake I tried to pm you but your full. I have been looking for a CT for a long time. If the asking price is right I would be happy to pay it plus shipping and your time. Thanks

Nice find there bigbadbob, I have a couple of these old beasts up and running and so does Hoss. I am always looking for one more so PM me if you decide to sell it instead of restoring it. Pioneerguy600

Yup, i've got the RA and a 700d (107cc slightly newer RA sibling). The 700 pulls a 36" bar the way most saws pull a 20", runs the same in the wood as out. Also have a 3071 65cc and I believe thr first pioneer with an electronic ignition.

The RA`s are the last of the sand cast Pioneer saws as the model 600 came out next and they are die cast. I couldn`t tell you how many Pioneer saws I have but the NU 17 ,450, 600 ,610,620, 620 SUPER and 650`S then 700 D ,850G , 1450, Farmsaws,Holidays,1100`s and a big bunch of others I have lost count.LOL Pioneerguy600

I don't drive American vehicles anymore, they are junk.

A broad statement is the product of a narrow mind.

Kind of a nice way of saying "TIMMAH!!!"

Which is what I would have said.

First of all it's spelled Camaro.

(snip)

...water-air intercooler, too much to list on a saw forum.

Second of all, it's spelled "air-to-water" or "air-water" intercooler. The air is not cooling the water, unless you plan on sucking water into your cylinders, I don't know. So before you go correcting him, best to make sure you know what you're talking about yourself...

Looks like my grampa's saw.....

That's funny, I had planned on stopping to see Gramps on the way to the camp for our families wood cutting trip next week. A while back he said I could have his saws as he's pretty laid up now (brittle bones and getting along in age).

He's got a Pioneer that looks a lot like that one, glass bowl and all. There's another smaller one (limbing saw) around the same vintage or possibly a decade newer..... Then there's a Stihl that my Dad gave him when he got his 026.... Dad's not sure what model it was, older, heavier and slower than the 026..... he believes its an 03(something). That's the only description I could get.

I'm planning on fixing up the saws..... I feel its a shame to have them tucked away in Grampa's shed collecting dust.

Cheers.

Well I threw a gauge on it and got 130psi. Fat blue spark, ooolala!!!
Threw some fuel in its throat ,,,,, some very hardy pulls and
it sprang to life with a loud roar!!!!
Those loggers must have had big nuggets to run one of those for a day!!
I got tired just looking at it!!:dizzy:

Sweet! Please show some after pictures when you get her all together!

Bob, I'm in Williams Lake and will take it off your hands if you don't want it. An old P-41 that was given to my dad was the first saw I ever restored and used, so I have a soft spot for Pioneers. Plus, they're an all-Canadian brand.

Pioneerguy, I have an old 1450 that was here when I bought my house. I never could get it running - it seemed like the primer valve was shot and it was sucking gas thru the primer circuit. It would start fine but flood when I tried to wind it up. I've never bothered looking for a choked carb for it. I'm stuck on whether to part it or restore it, I guess it would depend on the price of either.

That P-41 is a warhorse, very low RPM but really hard to stall out. Lots of torque. I know an old Newfie guy who logged years ago with old Pioneers, he loves 'em for the same reason.

Holy run-on sentence Bat-man. That saw is an obsolete machine. If he wishes to restore it for nostalgic purposes, fly at it. I think he posted this thread in jest. Happy Sunday buddy:cheers:

I remember when I was a little boy, I got upset at my little sister. To which I posted a note on her bedroom door, "You are a stuipod little girl"

Point being? If you are going to point out a seeming questionable grammatical error; please do so without grammatical errors. Else you look foolish.

Yes those primer pumps are a pain in the ass, I just bought a NOS one and put it on my 1450 last night. My old one has a crack in its diaphragm . I will try to rebuild it and see how it works. The RA`s are great old saws but our first new saw was a Pioneer 600 in 1958 and my dad would start it for me and at nine years old I could use it to cut a little while he watched. By the time I was 13 I was on my own with it and could run it all day and cut 5-6 cord of pulp a day, also had to pile it back then in piles 4' 6" high X 8' long. It`s a little wonder that I have back problems today. LOL Pioneerguy600
