2 Stella cherries, 2 lapins cherries and 2 Elberta peach trees planted. Fall garden boxes are doing well too.

Do you have deer in your area? If so, wrap each tree in a 6-7' high fence of some kind. I've had mine nearly destroyed by rubs during the rut and tops eaten out in the winter when they are looking for food.
I do and noted. 12 gauge will work nicely too.
had to dig the sweet potatoes,--damn mice are trashing them! -- dont normally dig them for over a month yet!

I planted two peach trees last year and in the middle of the night, had the deer destroy the center sprout of one of the trees. I was going to prune around this center to get the lowest branch point high off the ground, but that's out now.I do and noted. 12 gauge will work nicely too.
I have a 12 ga also, but I don't hunt deer. I DO love deer meat though. The problem in my area, if I were to shoot one, nice does in my area, they would go off and die in a neighbors yard. Don't want to traumatize any of the kids. "Mommy, he shot Bambi".
You just havent lost enough garden yet. I have given up trying to convince deer to stay out of the garden. but lead never fails me. If the neighbors want to bait them up, I feel its my duty to finish the havest.
Dr. Martin pole lima beans. We picked about a shelled out gallon and half this evening. I've been saving seed from this heirloom cultivar since 1982. Dr Martin remains green even when large and taste like baby green limas... but even better.

finally got the sweet taters dug. kinda depressing that there were no 15 pounders this year like last year but can win all the time. biggest ones this year were only 6 pounds. most were the size that the commercial growers want,--- MINIES!!

What variety are those peppers sonny? Sweet I'm guessing. Look like the giant Marconi type I grow.
Corn and tomato pie for supper tonite. All from the garden except the pie crust and cheese in the pie.
Let them mature to red. We slice the lengthwise and use them in cheesesteaks or peppers and onions and sausage. My most popular pepper my campground market..
cant chew them raw so gotta grind everything so we can eat it. They are impressive for sure!

I thought, was hoping, that I was done fighting the deer this year. Maters gone, taters gone, squash gone, cukes gone, deer got it all. I planted my garlic for next year, thinking the deer would leave it alone. How dumb of me to think that deer wouldnt eat garlic. I admit I did plant the garlic a little early and it had already grown about 8 or 10 inches. Well the deer took care of that problem. mowed it to the ground, left the cloves on top of the ground. Now its my turn. I mowed everything around my pot garden. Hung the game camera, Poured the corn around the pots, cleaned out the deer blind condo, loaded the rifle and propped it up beside the window. Invited my cousins boy to bow hunt, going to let him fill his tags first, then I will fill my depredation quota, then my tags. I got pics of two does last night and expect even more tonight. I had about 12 last week, now that the corn is out, I should see them every evening. Coolers are ready, knifes are sharp. I might not be able to eat garden crops, but deer will fill the void.
So, basically you're growing a garden to fatten up deer and trading off veggies for meat.
