My 3120 is really growing on me. Its a great milling saw with loads of power. Its getting stronger and stronger after 6-8 tanks of fuel. What I don't like about it is the exhaust gas direction. If there is no breeze its pretty nasty to be right there over the saw the full length of a log. I never had this problem before as my 2100 directs the gases toward the bottom of the saw and away from the operator.

Has anyone made modifications to a 3120 muffler to help with this problem? Got any ideas?

Yep - I agree that is a real PITA. I used Hudy's 3120 on thursday to make a few cuts and got a face full of crud.

I'd suggest trying the Chainsaw forum and see if they have ideas you can build on

BTW If you mod the muffler you really need to be able to adjust the top end carby setting - that means changing the main jet and or carby.

Yes, I'm figuring on richening the mixture. I spoke with Walkers Saw Shop about modding the saw and they offered to do a muffler mod and a drilled out main jet to match but couldn't do anything with the 9,500 rev limit. I may go with that but I'd really like an adjustable main jet and at least a higher limit coil like the one that is allegedly available for the rest of world saws (11,500).

The first couple of tanks the saw was not real impressive but its waking up now. I can push it in the log just under bouncing off the limiter. I'm better with technique and the saw is stronger so its working out well. But I know there's lots more there.
