Here's the 361 I recently got from Curt Bailey. It's supposed to have only been used about 1 month. I only have $425 in it with shipping, no bar. For some reason, the owner's no longer cutting wood. I just cleaned it up real nice and am fixing to box it up to...........send it to Big Dave! Yeah, I'm excited to see what he can do with this thing. He said I should have it back in about 1 1/2 weeks. He's only one state north of me here in Ohio. It was a tough decision deciding who to have mod it. There's several that have great report here. It just made since with Dave being so close and having such a long reputation. I am considering contacting Dean about a mail order ported cylinder for my 260 Pro. Oh, where does this stuff end:help:

Hmmm, shipping to Big Dave in Mich. Lets see he is north of me and you are south of me. I will see if I can snag it out of the air on the return trip.
That way i will finally see what a modded 361 runs like.

It is only Money.....Buy one and find out for your self. And let me know how it runs....

Its got to be a bigger stihl then a 361 to get into my stable. :)
But would like to compare with a DN361 and my DN357 someday.

I just got mine back last week....sounds good, feels nice. Ive only got 2 tanks through it since I got it back, and thats been running RM because the wood I cut has been very dirty...

It does, however, have way more grunt when you get it in the wood. I keep a 16" bar on mine, and had the bar fully buried in White Oak and SB Hickory, and it just kept chewing.

Kudos to DN.

Gotcha ole saw hot rodded did ya, cool. Now tell us, you paid the man to do the job, now was it worth it tis the question. You feel you got your moneys worth? I always ask this because someday I may have to give this mod thing a try with one of my old clunkers. So tell us, was the end result worth what you paid??

Tom, Ill better be able to answer that when I can test with some RS in clean wood.

I did notice right off that it wound up allot quicker, and kept rpms up in the cut better than it did before. But untill I get a chance to cut some clean wood with a good chain, Ill reserve my comments.

On a side note.....I got my grinder yesterday, and touched up all my chains...I was amazed at the difference in cutter length from cutter to cutter, and from right to left. I can imagine that my chains will be more productive now that there will be some consistency in my sharpening.

EDIT: I was not un-happy with the saw before, and had I not had some extra $$$$, I would not have done it. Wanted to see what all the hoopla was about, figured Id jump in and git er done!!

Well cool beans, keep me posted on the results, interesting stuff there.

Awwwwwwwwww you found out what I've know for years, there are two sides to a chain and by file they are damn hard to keep the same. Keeping the angles correct by filing is tuff too. You'll soon see a file is no match for a grinder. Remember, take off only enuff to get the tooth sharp, not a bit more. Remember too, take ya time, no blue burnt teeth allowed. You'll get good with that thing and heres what will happen, your neighbors will become a major PITA. They will be coming over saying can you touch up my chain. They go tell others and next thing you know you gotem coming from everywhere. So heads up, CHARGE THEM!!!!!

Dont see what the big deal is about burning cutters!! I didnt scorch a one.

Even with that guide I had the angles werent as consistent as they should have been. Most of my problem was keeping the file height the same from chain to chain.

Anyway..back on topic...

Tom, send that 5100 out and have it worked over!!

Modded saws

I'll chime in on this one. I have had my 440 back from WHS for a month now. It is a screaman machine. I ran about 4 tanks through a new 440 and sent it to Dean. The differance is astounding. I'm embarrased to admit the first three cuts I hit the dirt! It comes out the bottom really fast! Worth the money, sure- can't take it with you and the fun factor with a modded saw goes through the roof. I am going to mod my 260 myself. And in time will but a new 660, sell the p&c, and mod a BBkit for it. Ya It's worth it.

Casey, you are done now...

Try a modded 660 and you'll be lovin it. Ton's of grunt potential in them for a mill saw...

Love my modded 372's...I don't have many stock saws anymore....

Told Dave if I like the 361, he can have at my 660. Maybe when Uncle Sam gives me my money back.

EDIT: I wonder whos going to be the first to tear into a 441?!

My scale might be off on mine, but 55 seemed to match up to the RS chain much better than 60 did...

Just my preference, no need to start a pissing match war.... Remember I have the cheapo NT grinder...
