I'll do it tomorrow, and get it running.

AARRRGGG, I get tired of hearing this. I think I'm aware of the quality difference, but at less then 1/4 the cost it's fun to play with. And I'm not too worried about this being less power then stock OEM.

My issue is that "BB" indicates more power, that doesn't seem to happen very often, if at all! :givebeer:

Maybe BB in stock trim doesn't mean more power. I've never stated and nobody else here that knows anything has said that stock BB kits have more power then stock OEM. I don't care to turn this in to a BB vs OEM debate either. There has been plenty of those and I don't want to ruin a perfectly good thread, so that's my last word on the subject in this thread, if you want to start another I'll be happy to join in and argue with you about it.

Ok, but the "BB" thingy still sounds bad to me, as they usually don't add any power by themselves, without serious work - that might have worked even better on a OEM cylinder.

Niko, can depend on the kit, what work if any, who does it, etc. These 77cc BB kits for the 372 WILL make more grunt than the 71 cc oem.

Sorry Will, let er rip.....................snort! :msp_thumbsup:

Let's not git outa hand here:msp_biggrin:

BTW, BBkits save lives.:dizzy:

That may well be, but I guess not if an average owner just puts it on, without knowing the finer details on how to do it properly.....

It's all Matt's fault, this is one of his Chinese saws that he had fixed up. He has the old style BB kit on it, the one with the black fins. It also has the new carb, big filter, big spikes, roller chain catcher, yadda, yadda - it should work out well as my bucking saw. I got a good deal on it (he may have been sippin' the furniture polish)

No furniture polish involved at all Terry. Remember that the saw you got was actually a test mule and used :D She wasn't new old son...

as the quality is lower than the OEM stuff

With the exception of Mahle have you been looking at some of Stihl's recent P&C's Niko? I can assure you that near all the BB kits I've seen are of better quality than many of those...

I remember those pictures of the Stihl cylinder, the ones where some monkey with a Dremel had an epileptic fit while beveling the ports - that was some ugly port work!

For guys that like to mod engines, the BB kits are the go. They're already going to clean up a stock cylinder and make a few mods, so why not put a BB kit on the bench and let them do the same things - but start with a larger displacement.

For the bolt-on mechanic, the BB kits will never achieve their potential, but it is a cheaper option than OEM.

I've got two different 372 BB kits to work with (part of Matt's deal). It will be an interesting exercise to see the difference between them.

I'm looking forward to Will's testing and how the engine holds the revs with that transfer timing.

Well, robbed a few parts from the 372, now its running, hopefully tomorrow I can try it out. It was a little ##### to get tuned in, I think I'll go over the carb, got a kit on the way for it. Short vid uploading now.

Youre signature, where it used to say komatsuvarna, was blanked out for along time. And now it is back was just wondering the story?

It is weird, I assumed you knew, was that way for months. I never said anything, just figured you changed it.

Well, it runs - that's a good sign. It didn't snag any ports when it turned over - another good sign.

Now go find some wood.
