I need to start getting some of that green you be getting there Tom for felling trees. I dropped and blocked a 22" elm for a guy at work for fun. But I told him if it caught the house on the way down that he did the felling for insurance purposes. Surprised my homeowner self and the dang tree fell right where I wanted it.
Now i got a guy with a couple pines beside a pool wanting took down and a saw waiting to be serviced in the shed. Guess I better start getting gas money someday eh, instead of beer. :)

Good Deal, Did you get to keep the wood ?

I wasn't going to charge him anything but he's a upfront guy. He wanted to pay so I thought my usual fee, 100.00. I don't mess with the wood. I takem down, trim and block and there she lays. That car though, worth a mint. Man what a car.

I cut many for the heck of it too. This one was going to be such a tree but he likes to be on the up and up. He has another real big double huzzy behind the house he wants me to take down later on. Can't wait..

suda baker or something like that.

Bingo, a 1951 like brand new. He is so proud of that car and I can't blame him, that thing is in mint condition. He has a Model A Ford being built now and will soon be in his garage. The man likes old cars.

Hahaha, must remember it took him 10 minutes to paint his lines,LOLOL

I had the Jewel there for trimming and I also used Bad Bob abit too. That 064
has been sitting for quite a spell so I thought I'd give him a little work out. I got that saw for free. Did alittle work on it but never really used it much. So today I ran it abit. Runs good, real good as a matter of fact. Come to think of it I've never named him, hmmmmmmmm. I got it, OLE SCOTTY, teach ya to tease me,LOLOL

Bar was about 4 inches shorter than the tree. I don't worry about a hanger as long as it goes down. I could have reach around and snipped that off but the tree was going perfect so my thought to that is let her go. How ya like that back wedge. Have never had a tree kick back on me thanks to that type of back cut. It can't kick and it tends to sendem to the ground pretty quick.

Hell missed ya question there. Front cut was just a simple triangle notch. I used to cut the back striaght across a long time ago but had one kick on me once and since then I cut that back wedge as my gaurd againist kicks and to date its never let me down.

Tom, My friend (homeowner only heats with wood) does his back cuts the same as yours in the pic of the tree you just dropped. When i ask him about it, he stated he woke up on the ground with his saw still running from a normal back cut one day when a sudden wind caught a tree right before dropping it. So now he does them the same way and hasnt had a kick back since. Remember we are just homeowner diy types and really dont know the ins and outs of the tree dropping trade wrong or right long as it falls and not on something. Here is a pic of a pine he dropped last year for my axe targets. I leveled it off to show last year.

Looks good to me, thats the way I saw all the time. That back wedge is my method of staying clear of kick outs..

Tom, that guy looks familiar. That's not the fellow that donated my red Dolmar, is it?

Differant man Mark but you and him have talked in the shop before. He comes in all the time to give me a hard time and to get a hard time as well. He was there one time when you was there. Both of you were trying to rassle ole daddy but to no avail,LOL
