Now that I have an IPL, thanks Calvin, I can tell you what other parts I need.

  1. 61635A - Recoil Bushing
  2. 63985 - Dust Shield
  3. 67205 - Shield Retainer
  4. 63986 - Thrust Washer
  5. 64872 - Handle Grip

That last part appears to be a rubber insert that goes up in the bottom of the handle. I don't have one and I think Bruce said to keep mine, indicating his handle won't be coming with one either.

Hey Brad, nice rebuild! If you have some good hearing protection then you will love cutting with this saw. Yes it has vibes, yes it is loud but if it has good compression and strong spark than those early 10-10's are THE hotrod of this size segment as far as I am concerned. I don't know why, but later models that I have run did not seem to have the pep that my early one (or other early models like it that I have run) had. 18" sprocket tip bar with 3/8 full comp chisel chain and this thing is gonna rock-n-roll!

Brad. That piece that you are talking about for the handle grip, is Plastic. I bought this assembly of of e Bay a while back, and it came without that piece.
I also bought my other Mac 10-10 from e Bay as well, and that saw also came without that piece for the handle, and I had one here from a Mini Mac, that I used for the time being until I get back Country behind me to see a a guy who has a Small Engine Repair Shop that Sells Chain Saws.
Rumor has that he has Lots of Parts Chain Saws there, and hopefully I can get a replacement parts there. I'm hoping to get a few complete Parts Saws there, because I need a few Bar Plates, for my McCulloch Chain Saws.
Did your McCulloch come with Bar Plates for it? If not you need a pair of those as well, otherwise, your Chain will Bind against the Clutch Cover, and the Engine. Bruce.

No bar plates on mine either. I'll need those as well. The PN is 64325.

Brad. If you cant get those Bar Plates with Part Number 64325, try this Part Number 64330. They are the same part, but for the Pro Mac 700.
I was thinking that if I could find the right Gauge Metal. I might try and make my own, that is if I cant find any parts from Parts Saws that I find. Bruce.

Everything's painted. The painted parts have been setting in the sun all day for the initial drying. Then I put them in the oven at 170F for a couple hours.

Looks good!.....When they're done in the oven, put them back out in the sun. ;)

68 is a popular year for many things one i was born that year and if i think right they went to the moon that year also

The US landed on the moon in July of 1969...40 year anniversary next year. I watched it on the brand new color TV my parents bought just for the occasion:)

Brad, the saw is looking great! let us know how the paint holds up as I am thinking about restoring my SP125.

The paint is already nice and hard, no problems handling it. I blacked out all the logos. Looks like it's time to get a new marker. I got a few stray marks on the front cover. I use one of those large permanent markers with a flat tip. It works very well.

I still need a bar for this saw. I'm looking for a 16" sprocket nose. I don't know what was original on these, but black and yellow would look best. With the paint job I've put on it, it deserves a nice clean bar. I missed a good deal on eBay last week for only $10. Snooze, you loose. Acres says I need one with a 8mm slot. Let me know what you've got.

If I remember right, some of the older 10-10 bars were unpainted polished steel with a sloping black tip. Most had the Mac emblem with 10-10 painted in black in the center. I can dig through the bone yard tomorrow and tell you for sure.

Not really a problem....A couple of options to clean those stray marks up would be:

1) some de-natured alcohol or v&p naptha may remove the marker without damaging the background color.

2) spray some of the yellow paint into an un-waxed Dixie cup and use a tiny touch up brush to cover the mistakes. If necessary trim the hairs on the brush to make it smaller.

Nice Brad!!!

Wow man that is lookin good!!!! Love seein a old mac look like new again!!!!

Looks great Brad!

Yea, the marker may have had too long to set in.....Might have worked if you got on it right away. If it bothers you, touching it up with the background color would look better than black. The trick is a very small brush that stripes just a hair bigger than your marks.....Yes, you will see it but if done right shouldn't be near as noticeable as the black.....

Hey Brad.
LOOKING GOOD. I threw the Rear Handle/Bottom Half of the Gas Tank Assembly in the Mail Today, Expedited Parcel Express,to you. I couldn't do it Yesterday, like I wanted to, because my Wife to Be had the Pick Up Truck.
You should have is some time next week. The Chain Saw will look original when your done. Can't wait to see pictures of it when your all finished with it. Bruce.

Thanks Bruce. Being the busy body I am, it's hard not just throwing this other handle on there. It's all painted up and everything. But I have no reason to rush this thing. Might as well do it right. I'll let you now when it arrives. Thanks again.
