"More" than what it advertises? Good god! Do you use it as a contraceptive as well?

I never have, but as an um, personal lubricant, you can run it a lot thinner than KY Jelly. And it's got this sexy dark blue color that drives my wife wild. :D :D

Apparently this Amsoil stuff is good for................

lumps,mumps,grunts,snorts, groans,aches,pains,wheezes, sneezes,chills,
bellyaches and pimples on your pecker.

I'm really starting to wish these oil threads were up somebodys arse.
Who cares?

Good info, thanks. Yes, I changed the oil in my truck after a year, I only did 4000km, I figured it was due. My truck, Ford 7.3L Powerstroke, is very demanding on its oil system, more so then any other diesel, so I treat it right, cheap insurance, those engines are very expensive to fix. I use Shell Rotella 15w40 and Wix filters. Oil changes aren't cheap either at 17L of oil, and a very large filter.

I used rotella for the first 100 k in my powerstroke as well and had no problems but it does foam more than synthetic which is a killer on diesels. As far as the wix filter goes I would stay away from them and stick with the oem filters. Do a search on dieselstop on the wix filters and theres countless threads of them collapsing and shutting down the systems and causing issues with the hpop. I personally like wix filters in gassers and love their air filters but their diesel filters are supposed problems. I have no personal testimony but am going off what i've read. As far a synthetic in your psd goes once you try synthetic you'll never go back, they fire faster and don't gallop in the cold weather. Rotella makes a great 5/40 synthetic.

I have friends who have used Wix on their Diesels (Cumin's , Power-Stroke) they have never had an issue. Personally I Prefer Fram but that's a economics issue . As far as Full Synthetic Rotella and it's Benefits in Cold Weather Performance I would agree. I always have utilized Block Heater so I never bothered to switch. As for foaming never witnessed an issue within my 7.3 perhaps with the Newer Turbo Power Strokes this has become a concern ?
I have considered going full synthetic but with the performance I have had with the Dino Oil I didn't want to upset the Ole Girl lol !

I always find it amazing how much time and effort people will spend bashing a product. Amsoil is a proven product and is one of the few products that is more than what it advertises. Anyone that has run it for any amount of time and cares about their vehicles/tools knows this.

Amsoil is on shelves only if a dealer signs a store up for over-the-counter sales. With the advent of the internet, it is irrelevant. Anyone can now sign up as a preferred customer and get dealer prices ordering the products right to their door. Amsoil has very quick service and in all the time that I have dealt with them, I have had ONE order messed up-not bad for a mail-order company.

I also have to laugh at how many people will spend big bucks on vehicles and then put cheap crap oil in them. Amsoil only has to be changed once a year and saves a bundle on service as well as protecting the vehicle. Other synthetics are also better than any petroleum.

The bottom line is that if anyone wants to keep using petroleum products, then have at it, but for my equipment it will be synthetic for everything because I want it to last.

I didn't see anyone bashing Amsoil, all I see is a few people who know a bit about oil pointing out the facts as they know them, nothing more.

Yep , Shell Rotella T ..The Million Mile Diesel Engine Oil ! I have used it within my F-250 7.3 Navistar for over 250 ,000 Miles Great Dino Oil .

Yep, its the best Diesel oil going.!!

What year is your 7.3L? Mine is 97.

I would have thought you Canucks would be using Imperial Oil/Esso XD-3 OW-40 ?

Envied from across the border as they can't get it and it's as least as good from what I hear, possibly better than Delvac 1 and Rotella 5W-40

As for filters, particularly in diesels, I like Donaldson ELF (Synteq media) Cummins/Fleetguard (Stratapore) and Mann-Hummel. Oops, forgot, Baldwin make a good glass/syn media filter too.

Ah I read your post and didn't realize you had the original 7.3. My job site truck was the 6.9 which was basically a 7.3 but didn't know it and was a great truck that had 500k on it when I retired it whthout a rebuild. I did run rotella and delvac it's entrie life. Yeah the powerstroke oil pressure is much greater than that of the non turbos, I don't know the exact psi but can tell ya I've always used motorcraft filters from wal-mart at $10 and never had one fail.

The only thing I see wrong with it is putting 15quts in a diesel at $8 a bottle. I do beleive in it's performance but I also believe in mobil1, roayal purple, shaeffers and many others. Until I have a saw blow on amsoil or ultra for that matter I have no reason not to. Heck I never questioned the orange bottle and it never led to a seizure either.

6.9 runs a lot hotter than the 7.3 ! Motorcraft and Fram are what is recommended . Just an Old School Former Diesel Mechanic (Bigger is Better) lol . Ifin I had a new 5.9 Cumin's 5-40 Rotella Syn would be my choice .

P.S. Have used Amsoil as previously stated in numerous Small Engine Related units , Great Oil !

The powerstroke motorcraft filters are extra large capacity. I agree bigger is better and the more oil the better. My trucks a 5 speed tranny that holds 3.7 quts but if I park it on a hillside I can get 4 quts in it just to make me sleep better at night. I like your attitude.

Powerstrokes, have 2 different oil systems. The regular system which supplies oil to the bearings and such, second the low pressure pump fills and supplies the HPOP system which runs the injectors, and can be over 3000psi.

The Wix filter that I use is the same size as a motorcraft one.

I've never heard either of these problems. If the big rigs can go a million miles on the Rotella 15W40 then its good enough for me. It doesn't get too cold here for me to worry about cold running problems, if and when it does rarely go below freezing, I plug it in.

Yep thats right. The only issue I have ever had was the hpop slowly died out at 180k and needed replaced. I have nothing against wix and frankly thats all I use in the wifes volvo since her car uses the canister style insert, i'm just going off what the diesel pros have to say about wix filters in diesels. Honestly I think most of the issues were with the 6.0 psd's more so than the 7.3.

I know of a 4440 Deere tractor that has over 17000 hours running nothing but 15-40 rotella and wix filters, it has been used in some of the most demanding conditions you can put an engine through and it's still going strong, it uses a little oil, lost a little power but after that many hours plowing, disking, planting etc, what more could you ask of an engine, oil and filters.

Did you know that Donaldson Synteq media was developed by Amsoil?
Same stuff as in their EaO series oil filters.
