If memory serves me , most premium extended oil manufacturer's express either a mileage or hour rating or within 1 yr . The hour rating recommendation is often within small engine perameters or bypass filter applications within Severe Service Diesel fleet Applications , which could include agricultural equipment i suppose .You are violating every rule in The Project Farm handbook if you're only changing your oil every 4-5 years.
Saber in a properly tuned air cooled engine is reasonable clean for a high viscosity 2T oil . I agree Dominator is cleaner in a crisp running saw , however within power valved liquid cooled sleds is a liability , unless you keep the wick lit brother . I personally found Interceptor much more forgiving Bén . Air cooled sleds Dominator faired better with hot plugs . I also used Dominator within my 1972 250 Husky Mx & Interceptor within my 1979 370 Can - Am Enduro both at 40:1 for over 10 yrs . No matter how i tuned or jetted the Can-am with Dominator it was pig dirty . But i get your point Dominator is a more application specific oil . Saber is designed now , as a more broad range air cooled handheld unit (ope) oil . P.S. funny that originally Saber was a all around Bike & Sled 2T oil at the turn of the Miĺlenium , how marketing changes !I never found Saber to be particularly clean. Dominator is cleaner.
But neither is any better than other high end oils like Red Armour, Maxima K2, etc.

Actually Ben , Interceptor is Amsoils preferred sled injector oil . Dominator is their premix sled oil for severe Racing applications . I just have not had a lot of sucesss with it as far as clean running . Not a big issue sínce i do sled head & piston inspections hourly every few seasons , gaskets are cheap . I know a lot of folks swear by it in saws . I guess my specific sleds like Interceptor or more recently Red Armor better. I have a friend in Michigan who swears by Citgo in his 850 Patroit RMK sled. P.S. i recall 2011 - 2014 Renegades having suspect piston ring locating pin issues along with inferior crank sealing , resulting in blow by & scored pistons . Better pin design & ring metallurgy along with double lip super seals resolved these issues . The last sled I had was a ski door 800 twin Renegade. I ran many cases of citgo Sea and Snow through it with perfect results. That's even with the very common ring issues that particular motor had. I also left the oil pump at the factory setting, which was around 20:1.

I find them to be mostly useless.I find his down and dirty tests for hand tools invaluable.
Here a quart is $27 Australian for Castro activ. $18 USD / $25 CAD. I’d rather pay $5 more get get saber as it smokes much less.I'am talking $8-$14 a quart within North America . $30+ usd. is what some top shelf manufacturers are asking , eg: Motul & Maxima ...etc ! Castrol & Shell 2T are still very well priced here North of the Border !

Yeah , i thought so . I have been running Amsoil products for 15 yrs. Prior i ran Shell & Castrol & Quaker State 2T products during my Racing days (70-80's era).What!!! That’s crazy cheap!

43:1 is an odd one I've not seen mentioned anywhere else. Any reason for that mix?I think any brand name oil with the proper ratings will do just fine. Good fresh gas. Not abusing your saw. Keeping it well tuned. Running a scary sharp chain. Good bar oil and your oiler working a good power saw should last a very long time. My chain saw tuner will tell you to uae one kind of oil. 90 non ethonol from a real gas station like BP or Shell. and sea foam. 43:1.He is 84 I think and looks 64. He raced stowmobiles to Championships on snow and asphalt dragstrips.He uses LUCAS SEMI-Synthetic Blend 2 stroke oil. My 2 cents.He is from the shores of the great lakes somwhere.
