Canola oil!

You guys need to sharpen your chains! All I smell is wood chips! Lots of them.

That would be lots of OIL COATED wood chips.

My point is that even though you may not heat up your bar enough to smell heated oil, the wood chips that you are throwing are all coated with the bar oil. Some of those chips and the associated oil gets on your clothes etc. At the end of the day, how nice not to smell like motor oil, and to know that the residue you are smelling is not poisonous. Instead, you smell wholesome cooking oil.

And if it makes you hungry, then its a good reminder to sharpen your chain.

No motor oil smell here... My new girlfriend likes the smell of bar oil. So I will continue to use it.

I would use canola but I don't plan on deep fryin' saw chips... :ices_rofl:

Head over to the deep fryer...more fiber than a french fry.

I've yet to personally meet anyone that runs working chains sharper than mine. Just a fact.

I'm not saying they don't exist, just that I've yet to run across anyone to date. Sharp wood cutting tools is what I do.

Bar oil is essentially motor oil, with tack additives. Motor oil is what it smells like. Glad your girlfriend likes it though.

Speaking about being hungry, have any of you ever had a sandwich out in the woods after working on you bar and chain? With canola as bar oil, no problem.
