I just talked to the dealer in order for him to give a warranty with the saw it has to be opened so he can get the serial number
The SN should be on the box as well. You don't need a warranty anyway. It would be extremely foolish for you to run this saw. If you want a saw to run, pass this one on and buy one that's not so valuable.
 
True. It really wouldn't be worth running. Until last night I never heard of a saw having a heated handle

If the guy is no longer a Stihl dealer ("not listed on Stihl's website") , what's a warranty worth?
