My stepdad used to buy new 10mm 044's for 600 bucks or so back in the early 90's
I honestly don't even remember what I paid for 044 #1 new, but I remember I thought it was a lot even though it was on sale (the place stopped carrying Stihl).
I think it was 4 & change, and I thought that was real expensive. Came with a 24" 050 bar. They actually did not want to sell it to me, because I was not a professional. I asked why they did not want to sell it to me and they said because it cut too fast! I told them that was just what I needed and bought it.
I know my saw is in the system, if someone looks it up, will it show the original price?

For a runner, I'd rather have the 12mm saw. Any OEM topend can be made to run good.
