Compare: Homelite C-51 and Stihl 036

Homelite C-51???

What are they like? I am asking this because I'd like to get a bigger saw for myself but I like old stuff and it's cheaper. At 6'3" AND 240LBS, I don't have much problem handling weight of saws either. So, how would power, RPM, and weight actually compare to newer stuff of the same cc range? Thanks, Phillip

Not even close.

The C-51 runs with less power and at a lower RPM than any 70 something cc saw of this generation. And it weighs another 5 bls or so. If you like those big cluncky old Homelites of that style at least find a C-9 or even better go for the XP-1000 thru XP-1050 series. At least they have the power to make that weight worth holding onto.

A lot easier to get parts for the Stihl too. The C-51 is neat but not very practical for a work saw.
