Touchy subject matter. I had a 99 FLTR, bored from 88 to 95ci, heads ported and flowed, dry primary w/ kevlar clutch pack, V&H Pro-pipes, Mikuni slide carb w/ high flow intake and a K&N filter, Andrews Cams, Powerglide lifters, Baker 6-spd tranny and a programmable ignition. It had plenty of power as compared to stock, but was gawd awful loud. I lost my arse when I sold it. If I were to do it again, it would be a 4-cyl Jap bike in the form of a light cruiser and it would stay bone stock. I like the old Honda Silverwing. Today's Goldwing is just too much like sitting on top of a small car. They come stock with 35 more HP than my tricked out Harley had tho.

The last time I was on a highway. two loud bikes were five feet in front of me, one beside me. and two five feet behind me, then two five feet behind them and so on. Oh and one under me. (Mine).
That Obnoxious noise is Music to my ears.

Guys at work wear leather EVERYTHING to work and no helmet....Good thing the will have broken bones and no scratches and there head will be mush....I asked one of the guys why he doesnt wear one and he said they where gay and they can break your neck....Well i guess he knows...

I am done with this crap...Not because i sure dont like harleys but its seems as if some people are taking the harleys as a lifestyle instead of transportation purpose as they are...I have been on the rode for like 20 years now and i have seen more harleys along side the rode with like 4 other guys looking at them then all other brands combined....dont get me wrong made in the US is a good idea but i like reliability also and like that other guy said about HP...A 600 cc sport bike makes around 120 horse...It takes THOUSANDS of dollars to get even 100 out of a harley...They have a great company but they are running on technology from the 70's....Even the jap cruisers are hugely detuned just so they can get the sound of a harley...They dont have all the pop and fart that a harley does but that i guess is up to who likes that sound....As far a twins go heck ya i love the sound but it sure better be tuned...Give me a ducati or a rc51 anyday...

Its pretty sad when you claim to be the oldest bike company and you cant even design your own (good) engine that you have to call upon jack roush and porshe to make an engine for you and i feel to date its the best one yet and it still could go a ways....Thats all from me on this subject...I am done

I was wrong. My memory is all screwed up. I had to go look up the specs. My bike had 93 HP with all the bells and whistles, and a stock '99 GW with a 1500cc engine had 100hp. The '99 TC88 1450cc engine had 68hp in stock form.

An '07 GW has an 1800cc opposed 6 engine with 118hp and 88 ft/lbs of torque stock. Looks like HD has stopped using HP and only lists torque. An 07 HD is 1573cc and has 92 ft/lbs of torque.

I feel like the Sawtroll of motorcycle specs.. :hmm3grin2orange: How much do they weigh? I already know that the HD antivibe is outdated so there's no use in even looking...

Weird...I traveled over 170 miles a day and I honestly can't recall 1 single Harley broken down on the freeway! Are you sure they weren't all gathered around it in sheer admiration?

However, when I get off the freeway I like to watch the mo-peds wobble around in front of me doing 30 mph...cracks me up every time.
