There are performance motors and there are non performance motors.
Best analogy I can think of is a Dodge Dart. Tons of them with a slant six. Nothing great on power, but pretty economical to run, and last for years and years.
But you could also get a 340. Great performance. But you would put your foot in it and probably have some repairs down the road.
A 290 is like the slant six. Not going to impress anyone with blazing speed, but it will get the job done and last.
The pro saws are more like the 340. You expect more because you paid more. Yep, it will impress and make more wood quicker. But you will do some fairly major repairs along the way.
I never needed a 340. My Dart Swinger was just fine with that six. Bet that motor would still be going if the body hadn't fell off.
And the guys with the 340 laughed. But not one of those cars is still running.
Either totalled or blew up.
