Just wondering, can you reflock a air filter?

Ive got some goose decoys and the heads are "flocked". And a quick google search (flocking kit) reveals a number if kits.

But my question is, would a flocking kit be the same that is on a air filter? Or different?

I've certainly not re-flocked an airfilter, but I've renewed a few flocked filters with, erm.... pantyhose.

The filters I did had a flat base... I just pulled the pantyhose over the filter, and gathered it tight on the backside, and tied it. I used 2 layers of nylon. Then I carefully adhered the nylon to the old filter with CA glue. A dab'll do ya. Cut off the excess hose once the glue has cured...

I no longer find fine dust in my carb throats.

It did not add enough restriction to require any re-tuning. Good'nuf for me.

+1 on the good question!

That is a great idea!!!!

Great idea on the panty hose, I'm gonna raid the wife's stash and use some over my mower's canister intakes and see how it will work on them.
Rep for the good idea. Even on saws it might be a money saver, I think the last one I bought from Stihl wa around 15.00.

Interesting question...I guess if you got it glued properly it might help capture particulate. That stuff is pretty messy to apply and I'd be afraid of restricting the filter with the glue. Hopefully it would matter if the flocking came unglued.....hopefully the other part of the filter would keep it out.

I think I'd rather stretch another somewhat porous material over the filter and glue it on the edges....kind of like a prefilter. Sort of like the other poster suggested with pantyhose. Have to be careful to not be too restrictive though.

Awwwwwwwww flock that, just buy a new filter will ya,:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Nylon (pantyhose) is impervious (for all intents and purposes) to gas, oil and the heat one could expect... Most nylons melt at over 200C... And the intake of the saw's about the coolest place on it.

Most plastic parts used on saws are some flavour of nylon (polyamide) or polypropylene. Mesh filters are nylon.

lol, what about NLA air filters though?

We have split one of the huskys and cut up a B&S filter and stuffed it inside the filter.

But I do have some panty hose round here. For birds headed to the taxidermist. :)

A simple sponge works about as good as anything. They aren't recomended for flocked up filters though, just saying,LOLOL

I've been thinking about using a cartridge airfilter from a vacuum cleaner. But the vacuum bags seem quite usable to.

Speaking of getting flocked ole Billy Bob went by Jim Bob's house the other day. He said Jim Bob get in the car we're going to the cat house. At the cat house Jim Bob didn't last 10 seconds with the girl. The girl said wow, you sure didn't last long, would you like to come again. Jim Bob, not to bright, said yeah if my buddy Billy Bob will bring me down here again, hehehehehe

:agree2:

I generally agree, but still believe it is a good idea for older saws that you no longer can get a new one for - or that has bad original filters.

Does anyone know the MICRON rating of different brands of stockings? :yoyo::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:
