GTG around north carolina 4-18-09

many here are familiar with this saw as it was @ the GTG last year. i am very happy with this saw. it was built to work and work it does.

it is arguably one of the best 50cc woodsaws around.

JT has inspired the possum family to tear into one or two, maybe all the saws

tryin to work a deal on a 460 stihl right now so i can be like 2K

dad said his 084 will be gettin a shorter bar length soon to unleash its power

this saw makes a bit of noise. good thing it cuts too. just as the 361 did in stock form, it left me expecting more as a built saw. it does work exceptional for limbing.

i expected this saw to be the fastest going into the GTG and it didnt disappoint.

the Husky 395XP built by JT78 showed a strong gain over a stock saw.

i saved the most interesting for last. this saw has to be the fastest 029 worksaw in the entire universe.

it looks fast, it sounds fast and it cuts fast. just how fast is it? it out cut the stock 361 by a half second.

Wanab I went over to the log pile measured the poplar we were cutting it was only 11 1/4". Also thanks for posting all the vids. It's cool to be able to see what they are doing over and over. I almost had a moment when I heard my 029 Super running. Thanks again,

Hey wannab I have watched the video of the 361 and the video of the 359 several times and they are so close I cant tell who won do you know? I think with some race chain on both the 361 would pull ahead by quite a bit because of the rpms that thing is turning. I think I'm going to tear the 395 back down and widen the intake because I never touched it and I think there is more to be gained there.

the 361 was a bit faster but the 359 hangs right in there.

'67 Mustang's old Lombard. the saw was a fine example of an original saw. not sure of the model. i dont know as much as i should about the older saws.
if somebody can PM me i will update the info.

'67 Mustang's pullon, not sure of the model or size.

had had just purchased the saw and it was its first run. the chain was dull and seemed like little or no bar oil.

its painful to watch but entertaining.

JT put a decent edge on that chain but I think it needed to be in a vise for more support. Those little saws with a sharp chain run pretty good. Maybe Steve has got him a good chain for it now. My little echo wasn't worth a bleep with the factory safety chain, got reamed on a good chain from the local echo guy but that was my last visit.
