am i headed down to help?.......absolutly not. i get paid dam good money right where i am, i have no need to go chaseing work across the country.

if some one needs to travel across the country to make money in tree work i think they should look at what their doing wrong in their own back yard

it's one thig to have work lined up through a city agency or local tree svc after the dust settle's but to just head down seems like a total waiste of time.

Have you ever been around a serious storm?

i actually enjoy doing storm work. i really enjoy the rigging aspect of pulling tree's off a building with out even tearing a screen. setting ropes for 2-3 hours only to make a few cut's. that's the fun stuff.

have you ever done removal work in tiny manhattan backyards where the tree's go through the buildings?

I get paid darn good money here doing what I do best, I just have an adventurous side. Plus it will give me a chance to maybe climb and work with some cool guys on here like Rocky or Greg. I have fished with Rocky, but never climbed with him.

Kenn,

Thats exactly it! Somebody thinks i/we might be interested b/c we're failing at business at home. However, contrary to this belief; I have actually been making the best money of the year w/ in the past few weeks. The interest for me is in the adventure/experience. As well, i can't wait to work w/ other great/knowledgable climber; i rarely get this oppurtunity around k.c..

Right on Junkie, I could say here and make killer money, Stumper wants me to climb for him for a few days at $1,000 a day. Ok maybe its a little less than that, right Justin? I dont have to make a killin going out to Fla. to help out. I didnt join the army for the money and I didnt join the Rangers for the extra $110.00 a month jump pay. I did it all for the adventure and the comradere. Besides the chicks dig it.

Kenn

Errr.... Kenn, There is only one chick that matters now.

We may have to renegotiate that $1000 per day. How about $6 and a bean burrito?:p

LOL Ya got a point there Justin. How about $6.00 a bean burrito AND a case of Colorado Cool-Aid???

The bottom line is we have a capitalistic economy. Supply and demand decides what price the market will bear. If there is a small supply of people to do the work and a huge demand the mean price will go up. If the demand has gone up 100 times the normal mean, is it unreasonable to raise your prices by a factor of three. This is a cruel world we live in. How many of you have been cheated out of money by someone who was wealthy? This isn't a case of people being fleeced by deception. If you live on the east coast your gonna deal with hurricanes. The further south you go the greater the risk. If you live on the left coast its earthquakes. Florida is God's waiting room! Your gonna deal with old people. However, the majority of them chose to live in Florida. They understand the risk that come with their choice. Don't treat this like 9/11 where people were completely unsuspecting victims. Your performing the most dangerous job in America. Noone is going to send your family a little extra cash if you die doing it. Don't use lies, deception or false promises to get work. Do what you contract to do in the manner you agreed, but charge what the market will bear. If that's 2 or 10 times the "normal" rate who cares. We are skilled tradesmen and we should be getting paid a lot more than we do considering the level of risk and the cost of insurance and equipment. I haven't noticed the oil companies showing us any compassion. If they made affordable cars that ran on sugar you couldn't give gasoline away or find a sale on sugar. If people agree to pay triple then charge it. Don't force them to let you do the work but why would you give it away. If they want to pay the "old rate" they can leave the tree on their house till the demand subsides. Make your money when you can. Just be honest, ethical and legal.

My $.02

Amen Xander. You worded that vary well. If I can make a few bucks cool, if I can make a boat load of dollars, GREAT. But Im still pretty much in it for the adventure and to put a couple more pictures on my 'I love Me" wall in my office.

Oh, and Junkie, if you ever need a Climber out in KS give me a buzz. Your only a few hours away.

Kenn

I should be gettin word back from Rocky today to find out the extent of the damage, and if they need any help. If I cant line up gaurenteed work then it probibly wont be worth my while to just go out and try and fly blind. My wife isnt to keen on me takin off, but she should be able to get by for a week or two.

Kenn

Dude I taught tree few year ago is headed down to work on the fly. Going to Orlando. He said he'd call me when he got set up there. He is crazy thou might not go.:p

What if you said $600 a day semi-guarentee that for 2 months.
$2000 sign on bonus to go. They accepted would you go Kenn.

I dont know about going for 2 months. My wife is 7months pregnant and the Elk season starts Oct 16. I would have to be home before that. LOL Maybe I could make enough money to buy an new huntin rifle and a 4wheeler, on and a crib for the baby. LOL

Kenn:D

600 a day and i'll stay for a year. I'd need the sign on bonus to make it worth my while for driving all the way down.

Whats the word down there, what i see on the news is sending me mixed messages. I need to know if wer'e going or what

Rock, where you been? 'working? Still gonna be looking for a top climber?

for 600 a day, we should have try outs for the position. anyone who wants a position should have to first prove there worthy of it. It would be a shame to leave out a better climber b/c some mediocar guy was there first.
