How many of you actually OWN a DOLMAR 5100 or 7900.

I want Pics. Everyone is recommending them, do you actually own one?

There is no way that I would buy a saw with so little dealer support.

Let the thrashing begin.

hmm, no pictures but cut4fun can personally verify that I do own one. he ran it. PS5100S
and my dolmar dealer has been in buisness selling dolmar for almost 20 years, 1/2 hr away from me, whereas theres no husky (unless u count Lowes) or a stihl dealer over 1 hr away. best dealer support I have is dolmar. the stihl parts I need I buy online.

herd mentlity? LMAO, that the 361!!

.

Good point, I like the looks of them and would like to try one out. Sure are a lot of them around the web lately, but none locally. Wonder if all the hype is a way to build confidence in them to dump em.:blob5:

Duck and cover!!!!!!

This is a bad, bad question to ask. Calling the :censored: er's out.

I like it!

I got one and no pics though. My udder brudder took it and he ain't brought it back yet. If it comes back still working it has to be a good saw. Guess maybe I'll find out tomorrow.

Begley, good answer. I am looking for answers from folks that ACTUALLY own one. You are OK.

Do you think that is much better that the comparable Stihl? Honest?

Go to a get-together and try them out; you don't need to buy them.

I went to Ru$$'s a couple times (he's banned from here) and got to run both the 5100 and 7900. Those saws are the real deal. The 5100 is so smooth you'll almost think it stalled; you can barely feel the engine running. Swap the crap factory safety chain for a real 3/8ths pro chain and the thing'll throw chips with the best of the 50cc class.

The 7900 is the strongest 80cc saw there is.

There is a shop ten minutes from my house that sells em'.....I avoid that shop at all costs. He sells chain for less than anyone else in town, but he tries to unload one of those damm things on me every time I go in there.I don't like the way they look or feel......Whoops I said it...:taped: :taped:

well, honestly its been years since I ran a 026 pro, but I just bought one from boston bull that I am rebuilding, so then I can test side by side. outside of that, I love it. easy to use and light, cuts like a lightsaber. I demo'd a 7900 at the P bunyon show this year (that freak later bought) and thought it was awesome, and thats compared to my 460 and 372. would I buy another 5100? in a heartbeat, and I am buying a 7900 soon.
the 5100 is my go to saw these days, for anything 18" or so and smaller.

Yup. Good post.

Daemon2525, you should have stopped by at the Indiana GTG last weekend. Lots of Dolmars in attendance - 401, 540, 5100s, 7900 - that you could have tested out in real-world cutting situations. See the pics here.

I have owned a 7900 for a while now (it is an older red-top saw, muffler mod only) and would buy another in an instant. Ask anyone who has used one, they will speak VERY highly about this saw. Luke (PM him if you have questions) was very pleased with this saw when he ran it at the GTG, side-by-side with his modded 372 in the same wood.

I have run the 5100s and it is a great saw. If I needed a new 50cc saw I would likely grab one of these; it is a lot more saw than my 026Pro. The A/V and overall feel of this saw is superb.

As for the issue of dealer support, what can I say? Some folks care, others don't. Hopefully in time Dolmar will get itself a better footing in more places, but I think they're working on it pretty steadily. Regardless, they make some saws that are definite class leaders - 401, 5100s, 7900 - and that are truly a pleasure to use.

LOL @ Musch ,, I did not say that you were a liar!

I just want to see if everyone that recommends the saw, actually knows that they are better than the other brand. If this thread proves that they are,
then I will be the next to buy one.

I just see so many folks recommending (or Trashing) saws that they have never used.

I'll name names later... LOL!
