Anyone have an Idea what an 80cc homelite wiz with a 5 foot bar would be worth? The saw looks to be in decent condition and is said to run well.
I have an oak tree that needs to come down. The trunk is so large 3 people cannot join hands around the tree trunk.
Thanks Steve.

On a tree that large it'd be some slow work with a WIZ, that's for sure!

I would guess that a running saw of that vintage with a good 5foot bar would be worth a buck-fifty, maybe. A really nice looking one with a 4foot bar got up to $190 on eBay, which was below seller's reserve. Others sold for $70 or so in a semi-running state.

my dad had a saw shop & small engine repair, I was about 24yrs old bid a large elm & thought id be the man borrowed one of about 10 homelite super wiz`s w/5ft bar. MY GOD never again!!!!!!!!!! started fine but that thing was loud, slow & the lack of antivibration mounts had my elbows & hands numb for a week. plain & simple if you have a lot of cutting that saw will kick the crap outta ya! Good luck.

I don't know if it's proper etiquette to post what someone's reserve price is/was, so I won't. But I emailed them and asked. Let's just say it was several multiples of what the highest bid ended up being.

I'm not surprised. Folks get crazy ideas of what used old saws are worth. Oh well.

I saw an old Mac with a 40"+ bar at an estate sale a while back. It was pretty beat, all corroded and felt really siff (dry, seized, who knows). They had it stickered for $500. I offered $25, which of course was refused. I was told it was worth $500 because it had a 40" bar and new saws with 40" bars cost over a grand. All of a sudden it made sense: $500 was, like, half the cost of a new one! I was glad they cleared that up.

The old Wiz would certainly be a workout, it will get the job done although much slower than today's saws. I ran a helper handle on a Wiz with a 5' bar for many years as a kid, covered in oil and chips and sucking smoke, oooohh the good old days. ;)

Theres a clown going by the user name OnleyEstates on ebay that has been shopping around a Wiz. They started with an initial price of $325!

9 Months later their holding firm at $185.

They probably spent that much on auction fees so far.

The real interesting thing is they are located in the USA but run the auction in European money.

^ my accountant (a old timer Ebay buyer) told me that ebay'ers are starting to do this (asking for EURO fund$), because they can convert it back to US Dollars and make a healthy profit on the $$ conversion.

:censored: stards!
