I don't think its a grommet, I think its the line that the filter is on inside the tank. Wondering if an XL12 line would work, anybody know?

The 800 on my bench had a length of 1/8" tubing going thru a grommet with the pickup line on the end.

Depending on what I get from Chainsawlady (what a gem she is.) I may have to do my fuel line trick #2. That is, push a short length of large o.d. hose over the hard line to bush the exit port.

Jerry, I've been looking for paint. Duplicolor light blue metalic is as close as I've gotten in a spray can. Couple of anciet GM colors that are close, but hate the thought of cleaning spray guns.

Carefull, that Duplicolor washs off with fuel unless you clearcoat it.

And, it's a dab too dark of a blue. Not enuff green to it.

I went to a NAPA and another place dealing in paint; I don't remember but they should have color books with actual paint "chips" in them. Here's a place I found online, AutoColorLibrary - Color Chip Selection, but its hard to tell without actually seeing it. Island Teal poly, #13514, as an example. My C-5 seems a different color than a blue XL, which seems different than my blue XL-9something carcass. Companies that change paint colors (blue, red, green) may not have a standard color (Mac yellow, Deere green, AC orange), and a search for Homelite blue has come up empty for me. Duplicolor can be found at an automotive store. Pontiac engine blue is also supposed to be real close, but the only thing I've found is a GM engine blue, which is farther off than the Duplicolor.

A year or so ago I was on a quest to understand Homelite paint and how to properly match it. One thing I've learned is there is no ONE color. Main interest was in the orangish red..... or is that reddish orange, or... well... Randy can help explain better than I. Throw out the "original" deeper red vs. the newer brighter red issue, because there was a noticeable change there, but between saws that are all supposed to be the newer brighter shade of red for instance, there's so many variations that its impossible to match parts... and I'm talking NOS parts too, not sun faded. Apparently with different batches, the color varied over time and there was never a definite fixed color.

Now this is only for the bright red, so I can't speak about the blue or the green, or is it teal... but I'd bet the same will hold for them. I don't have enough NOS blue parts sitting around to see this for sure, but wouldn't be surprised in the least. Anyhoo, my final conclusion has been for a saw that I want to look new, gotta plan to paint the entire thing, even if half the parts on it are NOS and are all supposed to be the same color. Fast is they won't be the exact same shade.

I have the opportunity to purchase a Homelite XP 1020 for $75. It doesn't currently run but had sat for a couple years with old gas, so I suspect carb/gas tank issues. I'm planning on milling with it until I can afford a bigger saw. Are there any issues that I should know about with this model? Thanks,

Jim

I got the kit in the carb and new fuel lines in the 600D, and she fires right up, but need to get it in the wood as it is hitting the governor on the bench, so will re assemble and sharpen the chain. Also got all the fuel lines for the Super 925 XL so it will get cleaned up and re assembled as well.

100CC homelite for $200???? reasonable?

all the info I have ... no model #. reportedly runs.

Depends on the model...at least a 1050, might be an 1130 or a 9-23.

Nope, just big and old, should work well.

Can't wait to see pics!!

I have the same deal with my XL925 except the rubber grommet is missing. I will let you know what I come up with this weekend as it is next on the bench after the 600D.

I basicly bushed my tank line/steel tube connection with a short length of larger tygon line.

The tank line is 3/16" o.d. x 1/8" i.d. tygon. The sleeve/bushing is 5/16" o.d. x 3/16" i.d..

Push the smaller line thru with enuff on the end to force over the end of the steel line.

Slide the larger line over the connection.

Run the pickup line into the port and out the filler neck.

Push your new assembly into the tank port. The tighter the fit the better. Finish off with your favorite 'goop' type sealer. I will use Permatex Black Rubber Sealant #RS-9.

I'll use the same bushing deal on the carb. end of the line as the carb. barb is considerably larger than the steel line.

nice workaround.

I actually came up with NOS fuel lines in my travels around town today, I will take pics when the time comes but your way will be very helpful as there are not to many NOS lines available.

ditch that governor and tune it in the cut. I just unhitched it and hooked it on the pivot.

How do you get that God Forsaken worm gear off of the crankshaft?
The one on the PTO side that drives the oil pump.
I need to just replace the crank seals.

Please don't ask why I'm working on this thing....................

Scoots I recomend that you remove the spark plug, toss the rest of the saw, then screw the plug into another saw. That'll fix it...

LOL !!! Don't I wish, but it's for a close friend.

Murphy states that anything for a friend or family will always be a real pain.............
