Jerry, I have a clean leaker with a couple screws busted off. Aaron can attest to the quality of said tank, he sent it to me on my saw.

Dammit. Those tiny screws and the spindly tank gasket are the only real weak point in the C/XP saw series. I cut with that saw for quite a while after it started leaking.....as I was afraid I'd bust a screw or two fixing it. Just filled it 1/3 full and only used it for bucking. My remaining C-5 leaks in the same spot now. Gonna have to tackle that issue someday. I really don't want to bugger up that tank, as the paint is just about perfect. The "C5" logo on top is 100%.

a palmer and aaron,
thanks for the feedback.
just to pass some info forward, according to the 3rd Edition of the homie shop manual, in the text for Fig. HL53, the gasket between the fuel tank and the cover is no longer used. they recommend a homie cement (part no. 22788) which is NLA but seems to be a gas-resistant sealer. matter of fact - there was no gasket between my tank and cover. just sayin.

Thats what I tried, permatex #1, and new screws. Holding so far. I tested it overnight, and emptied it. Waiting for paint!

Might be an 1130... :msp_confused:
Might be a 54" Oregon roller nose with it... :hmm3grin2orange:

CL investigations, huh. I figure the bar pushes the saw over the 2 bills, but I don't have time to truck up to Marietta.

Mine had something thin there, thought it was a gasket. I sometimes get the C5 mixed up with my two older Macs, a 1-40 and a 1-42, all of which I've had to seal up. If my memory is correct the Macs took a gasket, the C5 took the MotoSeal. That MotoSeal is good stuff.

I got to tinker with the 600D here and there over the last day or so and finally got it back together and running right. My video camera is down so I will have to wait for a camera person to film the 600 with my phone.

Could well be all or none of the above. I wonder if the place that did the work is the same one in Suwannee I got the restored C5 I used to have from.

If it's the saw I think it is, then no. It was restored by a guy in northern Virginia, who sold it to me. I sold it on ebay to a guy in Georgia in 2010, I think? He put it on CL a few months ago. I think he started at $400. There are pics in this thread or the craigslist thread.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
