Very desirable. Remember a previous post on here a few years ago and numerous members declared them to be their all time favorite Homelite. Without a doubt in this member's top 5 list.

Thanks. I guess I'd better got check this one out.

The 925 is a bit heavier than a modern saw, but is a torque monster. They have auto oilers with manual overrides, and decompression starts. No real AV, but they are fairly smooth running, and I could run one all day long. There are tons of them out there, and not particularly high priced. A decent running 925 can usually be had for under $200.

Me, too. When the other 2 saws I bought get here I anticipate being told that I suck a lot...

OK, I will just lead this parade. You suck.

Don't let all this 925 talk get you thinkin you need to save every little piece. An air cleaner and cover would be a lovely birthday gift to me, and I will gladly pay for the present and the freight.

What 925? One is a 1020, of the other 2, there's a 9 in the model of one, and a 2 in the model of the other, but no 5s...

Got my XL-800 back together ready to start. Replaced flywheel, crank, bearings, seals, rings and a dozen other bits.

It was the train wreck I got off evilbay last September.

Now we are in trouble as it has no compression release. We may have to use a 'D' handle. I did not remove the cylinder base gasket.........................Honest.

I was referencing the other posters before yours; I did not make that clear, and am sorry.

You still suck, a little more now, and probably a lot more when all is said and done.

Finest mid range saw built by Homelite.

I built four this past summer.

Need any parts? I got a bunch of leftover odds and ends.

Click on the bottom link in my signature.

I'd say it was the best performing mid range saw built by Homelite (and one of the best performing of all mid range saws)......................but that the 'fragility issues' which plague the series put it in second place for "Finest mid range saw built by Homelite" behind the dead-nuts reliable (but slightly heavier and slower) SXL-AO.

Charles you do indeed suck.:givebeer:

Got it running but we still have more work to do.

Painted it in Fisher-Price colors. Brody and Carlee will like it.

Runs out of gas in the cut. Our cobbled together fuel line may be too restrictive or the tank filter is too small. Opening the H needle 1/4 turn more seemed to help a little.

Most all that saw's troubles started with some Jack-Leg installing a points eliminator chip. I.E. The ruined flywheel and crankshaft. He didn't get the flywheel nut run down tight.

All it took was filing the points and setting them correctly. I repaired the cut wire lead.

Another Jack Arse (same one?) pressure washed it and got moisture inside the crankcase, fuel tank and cylinder.

Fortunatly, the cylinder and piston were in great shape or it would still be in a box. Top ring was stuck.

I haven't even said what the other 2 are yet. I better go find a helmet. :jester:

A 9 means its gotta be a 900,909, 990 or 995, and a 2 always means 2100... Are the plastic helmets or aluminum ones tougher?

Kevlar may hide your noggin for a short time. I was you, I'd have about as many Chinese or Mexicans I could find digging hard right now, some tree trunks and the ready mix on stand-by for the foxhole I'd be hiding in.

You bring these things upon yourself, Charles.
