I have found a 750 with a 48" B&C that does not run. I know nothing more about it. The guy wants an offer he does not have a price on it. Where do I start? $75? $50? $150? I am clueless. The last Homelites I bought a 923 a super xl12 and a C72 were runners at $35 each.

I picked one up at a scrapyard for $11.25. The last parts 750 on ebay sold for 200something. If you get it and it's not going to be a runner, I need parts for mine and would happily take it off your hands.

He's probably got a number in his head. I'd try to get him to tell you. If you're planning on keeping it and making it a runner I'd see if he'd let you take the muffler off to look at the p&c. If the the p&c looks OK, I'd feel good about it. If not, it may take a while to come across a p&c that is a reasonable price. I've got two 750's and one 650 waiting for a good p&c. I paid less for my 750 runner than I paid for one of my non runners and it had a parts saw thrown in with it.

Hey, you gurus,

heres a question,

the saw is Homelite 600, but it has "500" stamped, over the ZIP text in the badge, and it may have horisontal cooling fins instead in the cylinders head, and also, has open port cylinder. The cylinder MIGHT not be original but it has smaller diameter than model 600 normally has.

What model is this ?

this 1100 came home yesterday after doing some spruce falling at the coast. pull's over with comp. originally a crown z saw , i be the third owner.

I am trying to get him to give me a clue what he is thinking. The saw is 150 miles away. I wouldn't want to drive 300 miles if he thinks it is worth $300 and it might need a P&C. I would take that drive if he says $75-$150

Maybe a long distance deal is in order to save the fuel... money towards purchase:msp_wink:

If you decide to pass because of parts and you don't mind... I'd be interested.

Does it have a steel fuel/oil tank or a magnesium casting? A picture or two would help greatly. There was a 500. It was an 'economy' version of a Zip using stamped steel and aluminum parts in place of magnesium castings. IIRC the crankshaft is 'simpler' (cheaper) too. I have a Buz, which is basically the same thing as a 500 with a few cosmetic differences.

Model Profile: 500

Model Profile: 600-D

Model Profile: BUZ

Model Profile: ZIP, ZIP-MODIFIED

he must have sold it. The posting has been removed and he never did reply to my note.......:msp_sad:

That SUX!!! they hardly ever come up on CL and ebay saws are gold... or at least they think they are. Another "you should have went and got it first" story.. becoming all to common. I've basically stopped posting anything less than 2 weeks old just because of that.

I do have a bunch of saws on CL that none of you vultures have called on, what the :censored:?

I forgot to put on a befor pics this is why I decided to restore it if it was a nice original I would have left it alone and enjoyed it in its original state

huck, i had to look at the pix twice before i saw they were before and after even though my first look was on a phone. i gotta say that if those before pix show your criteria for restoring a saw you'd have a busy time around my flock. still, lookin good. just sayin
