Still having trouble with the 901..I put a condenser on the ignition and got it where it had great spark but as I said earlier, having trouble with clutch. Got a good clutch and put on it, installed bar and chain so thought I'd try to fire it up. Well, I primed it a bit and pulled the rope several times and it wouldn't start. The saw doesn't have spark again! I'm thinking now that the coil must be intermittent or a short somewhere.Homelite 901-1.jpg

I spent a little more time today working on the electricals on the 901 when I noticed the timing marks weren't lined up on the crank/flywheel. I had to mark the timing because the keyway was wallowed out on the crank and I can't put a key in it any more. I used Red Loctite on the shaft and flywheel but I guess it slipped anyway. I tried it again, this time I torqued it down to about 2000 ft. lbs. Just kidding, I tightened it as tight as I could get with a box end wrench. It has spark now but I'm crossing my fingers that the flywheel doesn't slip. Any suggestions here would be appreciated, short of changing the crankshaft...doubt this old saw would be worth it.

Loctite 648 Retaining Compound works well. It's specified by the manufacturer to lock the flywheel to the crankshaft on my motorcycle.

Could any of you tell me what size the factory spark plug wire was on C51s. Im finding both 4mm and 5mm listings. Part number is 58382

Never mind the boot shows 5mm.... carry on :)

I nearly flipped when this came up in the local classifieds  This saw is absolutely brand spank'n new and never so much as been fueled!
The seller tells me his father had purchased 2 of these from a closing shop back in the 80's. The first saw never failed, and the second saw was never needed. It remained stored in its case in a dry attic for the last 30+ years. It currently lives nicely in my living room amongst the wifey's crafts and nacs. Its a survivor and i just dont have it in me to run it. So, she'll remain a shelf queen till the end of me ;)

That's amazing. Congrats!

Picked up this lovely 2100 recently, but while im stuck staring at it, i currently have no choice. Im itching badly to feel the violent side of this ol' Homie, but i need some help... This particular saw spent its older years serving duty on a mill till the clutch went south. Hasnt eatn any wood since and its hungry. Anyway, check out the way the inner splines on the clutch spider disappeared.. And surprisingly left the crank splines worn but serviceable . I desperately need a serviceable spider for a 3/4 clutch shoe Pleeeeease!! Ive posted in the trading post, but all the Homie heads are here . Can anyone dig one up??

Also had this XP1000 handed to me via a cutt'n buddy. No history on this one but heck, its a freebie w/ spark and 180 lbs wet compression

Hello all, i have great news in the fact that good fortune has shown upon the great 2100 ;) I had a visit at HOH and low an behold, Dewayne was able to find a NOS clutch spider within his vast stash of Homie paraphernalia. Paid up, he sent it right out and took delivery yesterday. Tonight i ordered a new clutch plate and roller bearing to replace the worn bushing. I was also lucky to receive the 2100 with a 7 pin rim/spline setup which, after some studying, found that these are desirable and harder to come across. Its my understanding that some 2100's came with odd 6 spline drums. I really hope to have the ol' girl in some wood soon and i will certainly report here with some video action :) Thanks guys for the help!
