A few mates of mine have 357 huskys in the forests as limbing saws, they are really supposed to rock. But I heard of one of a 257 for sale, are they an older equivilent or are they semi homeowner saws? I need a saw to climb with thats a little bigger than the ms200 while smaller than my 440. Its running 325 chain and a 16 inch bar.
Gentlemen, anyone know what these are like?

I had a 257 and really liked it. About the same weight as the 357 and 3.7 hp. as I recall. These are pro saws, really tough and a pleasure to run.

It would seem to me that now the older 246 is the 346XP 257 is now 357, and so and so and so on. I wont bore you to death with the details, I'll just sit here and bore you to death with my life story, I promise you'll lay right down and fall asleep before you know it.:D

I think that you would find more similarity between the 242xp and 346xp and the 254xp and 357xp although I don`t think that there is alot of carryover from the earlier models. Ask Ola to ask Magnus.

The 257 was a good saw right from the get go...yeah there was that handle issue, but many other saws had the same thing...like the 394 with the weight (in the chainbrake) issue...

The big difference between the 257 and 357 is the cylinder design...dual port vs. quad port. (transfer) If I also recall...the cranks are different as well....the 357 has a "full circle" (not really but kinda...lol) crank...
