Yes they do make a nice specialty saw. "Limbing"
My most used limbing saw this year has been the MS361 with 3/8x8 sprocket and 15" bar - that's a real limbing saw.....:biggrinbounce2: :blob2: :blob2:

Yes, I have seen them, thanks to you and Manual - I don't know which of you who took me past 100 pts.....

  :biggrinbounce2:

It was actually Manual as I read the list, Ultra was a few minutes too late.....

She has gone to bed, isn't quite well at the time, but got cheered up for a while by you guys.

Thank you friends....:rockn: :rockn:

Just curious, but what do you use those small saws for?

I have used a couple of small ones, but feel that the larger saws that my husband SawTroll has are safer and more comfortable to use, and of course they cut faster. :rockn: :rockn:

The anti-vibe on the 353 and 361 are really great, even the old Jonsered 621 isn't too bad.

Heated handles are also nice large parts of the year up here......:rockn:

Happy cutting! :D

I am of this thinking too. The bigger the saw the safer you are cutting. The more Hp in the cut the better job you're doing at cutting, the better your doing the cutting the more efficent the person at the saw. Hence less chance for accident. You'll have better respect for a saw with greater Hp.

Manual wont give us rep. so were going to start taking them back from him.. Wont take long and he'll be in the red...:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

I find the small saws in tight situations are much safer... Hard to get pushed off a ladder by an MS200, but try that with an 044... Even the 361 needs care...

...and if you want nice cuts (pruning cuts - even 8 inches across), hard to beat a small saw/chain.

What are you doing on a ladder with a chainsaw?

Orchard trees. Too damn small to "climb", too big to reach without a ladder :). I did some cherry trees over the weekend that had got out of control ( I "fixed" the hack job my neigbor did with a pole saw), some pear and apple a few weeks before.

BTW my girl is no stranger to the chainsaw. Check out that rooster tail.

Maybe it's the photo, but it look like she's really straining pushing on that log!!!

Wish I had one of mine with a saw...:( fat chance.

Ya, it make's me silly just to think of it. Image her pushing on some guy in the park harassing me. I don't have too!

Sorry, Sam am I hijacking your thread?

What I can't do is get her on the site with me.

Btw Sam and cisco we are 30 minutes from LP, 30 minutes from Lake Champlain
and 1 hour so of Platsburg. I might get up there before Christmas. PM me some more info.

boy we have some interesting discussions going on here!!!! In reply to SawWitches question about as to why i use the smaller saws...i only cut trees with no more than a 16 inch diameter on the butt end....i do a lot of limbing too, but i try to stick to the smaller stuff, because like i say, the bigger stuff makes me nervous...maybe when i grow up (cuz i am only 5 feet 1 inch and 120lbs) i can handle a bigger saw with more balance and ease....with the bigger saws i feel like i handle them too close to my body to balance them, and one wrong slip and i could more easily cut myself than with the smaller ones which i can hold farther away. I am sure my husband would love it if i could wield a larger saw, and sometimes i will grab an 041 Stihl but not as often....he supports me in my decision...i think he'd rather have a wife that cuts with a MS210 with all limbs than one that can't cut and without some extremity or two...heehee...anyway, this weekend is sure to be a cutting fest, because some people in the area have expressed an interest for some wood....more quality time with my dude....hope that answered your question though....guess you could say i am a little "Chikn" with the bigger saws...haha

Saw, that is in no doubt a real limbing saw.

I feel that it is safer to hold the saw close to the body, regardless the weight of the saw
You should of course avoid cutting in the direction of your body or too close to it - also try to keep the body out of the most likely kick-back path.

This is of course just an opinion.....:biggrinbounce2:
