Husqvarna 288 pull start rope

I searched the site I didn't find answer to my question. Ive seen professional chainsaw shops tie very compact little tiny knots on the end of new pull start ropes so they don't interfere with the hub or engagement of the pulley. I've tried several small knots, fig 8 too big,, double overhand too big, single overhand pulls through or comes undone after 10 starts , I've tried to burn a little blob of melted pull start rope so it doesn't pull through.
does anybody know the correct proper way 2 keep the pull start rope from pulling through the pulley specifically on a 288 Husqvarna which has a very shallow hub before it goes into the flywheel.

What I do is pull the pull rope through the pulley hole out about 5 inches or so, take a torch and melt the end down for like 10 seconds, get that pull rope so melted that it’s almost a liquid, then press it down on to your workbench really hard making the end of the pull rope a nice big circle at least twice the diameter of the rope, then wrap the pull rope around the metal post that engages the pawls, put the pull rope under itself and then tighten it up really good with the burnt end snug up against the pull rope.

I wish I had a picture I can show you because it’s kind of hard to explain how to do it in words, but I’m not at work and don’t think I have an example at home to take a picture of to show you.

I went and pulled the starter off my 61, sorry it’s so dirty but at least you can see how it’s done. For any old Husqvarna starter this is the way I do it at my shop (along with all the other mechanics)

Good answer thank you very much I had to look at the other guys explanation to understand it but I studied the picture and I think think I see what you mean the blob on the end goes underneath the pole rope and it's wrapped around the Hub thank you very much for the accurate description

I know this is five years old, but thanks so much! Your great directions helped me fix my 288 in the field a couple days ago. I didn’t have a lighter or torch, but I had a ferro rod and chainsaw gas which worked fine. (Dipped the end of the cord in gas and sparked it.)
