Looks to be in good shape - about an hour or two north of the Twin Cities. Anyone interested?

What's the best season to buy?

Since I've kinda have my three saw minimum I'm getting picky about my next saw.
I want a Stihl 066 or 660, with at least a 32" bar. Retail 660 new about $1200. So I've been following them on ebay.

I thought they had been closing at around $700 for lightly used, but now several have closed at around $900.

Is there a better time to find the lightly used?

Someone is a one lucky ********. I emailed this guy yesterday and told him I would take the saws, left my contact info, etc, and then someone emailed him this morning about the homelite 750 and the seller decided to sell it to him! I hate when people don't go in line with the responses as they come in! Collector is from Richmond, Virginia. Don't even tell me who you are, I'm soo pissed. I want a 750 pretty bad and always like the challenge of finding this stuff locally.:censored::censored::censored:

That sux. Id say its more the sellers fault than the buyer....I had a buddy that responded to an ad for a car, said "first here with the cash get's it". He contacted the guy, said he was coming to look at it at 7:00 am. He loaded up his trailer, drove an hour, got there, cash in hand to buy the car, dude says "some guy just called and said he will take it, sight unseen, and I said I would hold it for him, and I cant go back on my word". My buddy was PISSED. The Ad said "first one with cash". Anyhow, the ad you posted doesn't say anything about a 750. :dunno:

You gotta balance the flakes with reality, especially if someone isn't close by.

I sell some odd and ends on CL, and get everyone of the scams, and promises, and pleadings, etc., from potential buyers. Usually the ones that promise the most fall through. So I usually don't commit to hold it for anyone, unless it's for a couple of hours, and for a specific time appointment (e.g. "between 6 and 6:30 PM"). No promises after that.

If someone says "I want it but I can't come until ____", I tell them to contact me before they come to see if it is still available.

I don't give out my address without getting a phone number from them, in case things change and need to contact them, and usually send a note back to anyone that contacted me with serious interest, letting them know it is gone ("Thank you for your interest in this item, it has now been sold").

Still, occasionally, get e-mails or calls from jerks several days later ("I thought we had a deal!") even though they never showed up, called back, etc.

Your buddy, above, probably fell victim to a buyer who promised to pay more than the asking price for a sweet deal or underpriced item in order to get the seller to hold it for him. Whether or not he actually showed up to buy it or did pay more is another question.

You don't have to have intelligence to post up a Craigslist ad and honor amoungst men is a dying art. I'm not saying there aren't some honest upstanding people posting on there, just that it's a crap shoot as to who you come across and how they act.

My buddy had talked to him at 6:00 a.m. and told him he was coming....they guy knew he was an hour away....get's there and its sold. That is crap.

I agree. That's why I wonder if the 'other guy' promised him more. ("Got a guy coming for it right now", "OK, hold it for me and I will give you $x more").

Still a sleazy thing to do, but you get how it works.

You can only hope for some poetic justice. That the other guy never shows, or shows up and says, "Oh, now that I see it, I will only pay you . . ." The sleazy seller has now wasted half his day, has his hope dashed, and takes whatever.

The other guy thinks he has scored, smugly takes his prize home, and finds out that sleazy sellers usually don't take good care of their stuff, or advertise it over-optimistically, and the item turns out to be junk.

You friend, depressed with humanity, goes home and stops a bar to cool off, buys a winning lotto ticket . . .

Ohh ya, it was the sellers fault completely, I sent the first email saying I would take it. The seller deleted the 750 description in the ad. Now the seller gets to go through the hassle of packing and shipping it. I would have been there today to pick it up.

Sometimes I wish people would stay out of my CL area and let the locals compete for it, but if you are willing to take the risk to send money sight unseen and with no protection, I can't stop ya. Only thing I can do is send the first message or call.
