Here's a rare saw, but at that price, you really have to want it.....

I guess I'm sitting on a gold mine, as I have an "ultra rare" McCulloch 740......and it has an "ultra ultra rare" McCulloch W1 McWelder engine swapped into it. I call it my 740W1. Stay back boys. This one's mine!:hmm3grin2orange:
So what is a rare 740 worth that runs?
There's nothing rare about a 740. Smallest cubes of the 700 series large frame Macs. Way overshadowed by the 790, 795 and, of course, the 797.
So, not worth a great deal.

I think the rare part actually refers to the fact that it's a running McCulloch. I could be wrong.

Plus, the 740 has the Mac carb that has very little parts support, and the primer pump almost never works. Even if it runs, it probably won't run for long.

Exactly, except I wouldn't say "way overshadowed". Just "overshadowed". They have a displacement that's only 4cc less than that of a 790 or 795 (99cc instead of 103cc). My 740 has a 103cc W1 engine in it. The swap looks to have been done long ago.
I sent the seller an email, is this anywhere close to you?
That's like a 45 mins from me. Its a good hour and a half from psu. I have a decent looking 754 too. Want it instead? :msp_tongue:
I'd like to see the other side. But it sure
doesn't look like a gear drive to me.
Cool saw anyway.
