this is a dumb question what are your true oppinions of the 2159? anyone here ever run one? hows it compare to the 359/365/357xp/ ms361

I have a 2159. and I'm happy whit it, but the one I have is a non Cat/E-tech so it's not the same that you get over there. Mine got a Tube muffler whit a middle baffler plate that have a big hole under the outlet tube, so it's have a good sound to it, and I think it's a positively good runner :)

why are the saw manufacturers still using the outboard clutch, is it to keep heat away from the bearings, or is it cheaper?

I believe that mostly it is a trade-off, to make the saws neater, and get the bar mount closer to the center of gravity (less gyro effect).

It is a good thing for limbing saws, but not as good for the versatility........:D :D ;)

Imo, the 357xp/2156 and the 359/2159 had been better off with an inboard one, but the outboard one is just right on the 346xp/2147 and 353/2152 .......

Yes, but all 2156's come with the cat muffler. So far, the 357 still has the regular muffler.

That is about Jonsereds policy to tackle EPA in the US, and keep the 2171 on the market - here you can get both with or without the cat, you even have to pay a slight premium to get it, and I believe no-one does............:taped:

My Husky dealer told me some time ago, that he had sold a grand total of one saw with a cat - and he changed out the muffler for a regular one after a while (on warrency), as the saw didn't run right in his opinion.....

the 2159 is a great saw once it has been open up, (modded) mine ran like a dog, but in its defence i was used to running 2171 and 066. the cat muffler really hurts these saws and they need to be richened up once the muffler is removed.
i know you may have heard this before but do a search for 2159 and you'll find the saw i had modded.
SAWTROLL put your damn books away and go cut some wood, he asked for opinions from those that have used them, not book specs. :chainsaw:

I am very lucky to be able to get a 2147 just because good friends with the Jred dealer I think?

Austin1,
Would your friend be able to get another 2147 and ship it to Ontario?
I'd love to have one of these.

Your the second one to ask but I can find out Monday. I know he had one for sure that was a month ago I hope he can get more he said they are having trouble getting 2171 in as they did'nt have any when I was at the shop and I am still waiting for my muffler!

I wonder when someone will actually hook a turbo to jonsie.... I'd bet it would beat 5100 in hp/kg ratio....

Nothing wrong with 2159/359...

My 359 is my favorite saw. I ran it stock E-tech for 2 years and I felt it had plenty of power for cutting Oak in the 12-20" range. If I had another $70 when I visited the Dolmar/Johnsered dealer, I may very well have came home with a 2159 instead of a 5100s. Not that I'm disappointed with the Dolmar, I just think the 2159/359 has an excellent ballance and feel. If you could find a good dealer with a non-cat 357xp at a decent price I would jump on it also. But I think the 2159/359 regardless of muffler are an excellent bang for buck saw.
