Hmmm... So after looking on acres and eBay, it appears there are even less 50's and 111's out there than the 621 and 80 models. I think I'll set my sights on a 621 for the time being, and keep my eyes peeled for a 111 if a deal pops up. There's just something sexy about these red and silver beasts.

So if I have this right, an 801 piston will work on an 80 with the same jug (both 52mm) but a 90 piston would work only if you had the 90 jug to go along with it (54mm). I'm guessing you can't bore these jugs out...? Everything else is pretty much compatible though?

When your ready for a 111s shoot me a pm. I have a very nice and good running 111s with a 40 inch bar that I'm willing to part with for the right price.

Do you need both the big and small coil? The larger coil is usually the one that fails and are available as an aftermarket part here: Jonsered 630 Ignition Coil Older 630's 501516102 New | eBay

Double check and make sure that the wires are not frayed. I had a hell of a time with mine and found a tiny split in the wire casing that was shorting out on the case.

Correct. The 80 was the earliest version built on that crankcase. The 80 was upgraded to the 801 with a different top cover, air filter and filter intake. Everything else stayed the same. Later in the production of the 801 Jonsereds produced the 90, which is identical to the 801 except for the piston and cylinder.

I was just being gentle John...no need to ruffle anyones feathers..........if they own one of those enemic, lightweight, crossbred, last thought of a backward child/dying company, things their feathers are rumpled already beyond straightening!! LOL!!!

So what I am hearing is that you would like a 520SP for your birthday? :)

HISSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! That would be border line abuse of an old man!!! LOL!! A friend of mine has 520 or something of the same breed...bought it new...that one never blew up/burnt out....however he wore a slot right through the metal ferrel in the recoil cover and then a inch and a half down through the plastic with the pull cord just trying to make it go.......nice....at least it can't explode or wear out if it won't start...he wanted to know if I could fix it for him....I said ......."no"........

Thanks for the offer, I'll definitely keep that in mind. It may take a few months for the wife to get over the shock of my last purchase- I'll just have to find a tree that my 28" bar can't handle to help with the convincing.

Thanks for the info PB, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I'd like to keep this ol' red around for a while, and not as a wall hanger. Like most equipment I buy, it's already older than me!

That's like the 111s with a 40" bar. I don't have a real need for it anymore, but I keep it around for the intimidation factor.LOL

Point taken. No 520SP. I will make sure to the the 510SP instead. :)

Here's some pics. The yellow and grey wires each have the insulation split right where the go in. No way they could touch.

I have a once run 520sp in stock currently. It should have two or three more starts in it. LOL

I also had a 510sp in stock at one time but it sold. I was actually impress with that saw. I cleaned it and tuned it and ran it once to test it. lots of noise and rpm's. It sounded like it was going to blow up in my hands. Come to think of it, it reminded me of a Stihl!! LOL

670 Super II clutch spring advice

View attachment 282896I have this 670 super II which came to me with only 1 clutch spring. It was an ebay purchase which the seller really knew nothing, stated it had an unknown lower end problem. Ended up being a shorting out spark plug boot and wire. I only noticed the springs were gone when I kept hearing a rattle when shaking the saw or when pulling the starter to check for spark.

Do you buy them 3 at a time, from any online source? Or from a saw shop or where? Or should they last as long as the clutch and replace the whole thing? I have replaced an entire outboard clutch just not the individual pieces.....what would you do?

I think the clutch shoes and drum are still ok.

The way I have done it is if the holes in the clutch shoes aren't egg shaped, shoes aren't heat cracked or excessively thin then I replace the springs, should be done in a set, husky springs from 268/272 should work maybe more would interchange.

I will go check out the Husqvarna dealer or ask around a bit more. Thanks.

New 670 Super outside Seattle.

View attachment 282906View attachment 282905I put this in the craigslist post but thought you all might like it as well. I enjoy the 670 but have never seen one new.

I am interested of course but no need for it. Even contacted and have the owners phone number but have not gone after it yet. I would think $400 or so but I have nothing to compare it too.

Whats your opinion?

If anyone wants it go after it.

Having a little trouble tuning my 1983 630 after installing a new carb kit. Have the idle set all the way back and both the mixture screws at 1 1/4 turn out. New to small engines so not really sure what I'm doing wrong.

- will only start while choked
- can't seem to get it to idle down, just sits and screams. The mixture screws don't seem to change things much.

Any ideas what might be going wrong? Possible I messed something up with the carb kit?

When you say idle set all the way back is it turned full right? Or where is it set?
Does the idle screw change anything when turned while the saw is running/screaming? Is this with a bar and chain on or the chain brake on?
