Husky 288 crosses over to what J-Red?

I recently got a basket case Husky 288, now the hunt for parts starts.
What J-Red matches? Muffler, caps, cylinder, ect..

Is there a match, or am I SOL?

Some prototypes may have slipped out...................

I don't know much about it yet, but I do know it needs a new switch.

Any body have one they want to get rid of ? :)

Need some help finding a top cover nut for a Jonsered 490. IPL shows P/N: 503 22 70-01. Anybody know of one? Will this number cross to Husqvarna?

I know these posts are older, but if you fellas still need those parts, gimme a PM. I know I have the 490 cover nut, and maybe the switch.

M-36 switch

Arrowhead thanks for the offer but I used A palmer jr idea

But I went with a switch from a 801 parts saw. I don't think it looks to bad do you guys ?
I did a little cleaning, rebuilt the carb and made a little video of it running

Now I just have to replace the clutch springs (will be here next week) and I should be set

The switch looks great.

And since it works it looks better yet.

Just as an FYI, don't buy anything from this guy:usedsaws7777

I bought a 80 powerhead from this thief with the description that it "had compression, no scoring on piston after taking muffler off". Well, I went into this saw for some parts for my 90 project Arkansas saw. The crankcase was full of WATER! Not only that, but after pulling the jug, there was a deep score on one side of the piston and correspondingly on the cylinder. The top ring was completely collapsed and frozen to the piston and the bottom ring was only moveable for about two inches. No "compression" was possible...he pulled the starter rope and felt resistance. Except for the carb, coil(very corroded), everything else is mostly corroded junk. Hole in bottom of saw base(not pictured or mentioned in auction) and the gas tank looks like it held water instead of gas. I originally took a quick, cursive look at the saw and put it away-my bad....too late to complain to ebay. Doesn't change what he did, however.

I can't see how this saw wasn't underwater at some point. He should have paid me to take this off his hands. Hope he sees this and complains.:msp_mad:

If this was an auction on ebay...file a complaint with them....get your money back.....I got a 910E same way.....someone had beat on the flywheel with a BFH and punch to break the crank/piston free....ruined the flywheel.....I opened the fuel tank and this semi liquid white paste dribbled out about halfway between yogurt and cottage cheese...saw was mint other wise!! LOL!!!! Useless except for a few plastic parts........my saw come Arizona...about the last place you would expect a water damaged saw to come from!!!

Yeah, as I said, I waited too long to file a complaint. Three months is about the usual term with PayPal....after that you're on your own. This sale was an absolute scam and the seller knew it.....that's why I posted his name. I'd love to post the pics too if he challenges me. The saw is a total ruin. I wonder how water got IN that saw you bought from Arizona? Water inside a saw is the last thing I would expect in a auction from there, unless stated so.

I really think my saw was underwater at some point....the damage is so moisture related all over-more then heavy condensation.

I bought a saw from usedsaws7777 a few months ago and it was also not really what I expected. But, I bought the saw for a few parts I needed and contacted him about the parts I was interested in and he gave very good descriptions of them. I thought it was odd that he took the time for me, but didn't take the time for the 100's who probably looked at his listing.

The saws in his listings often look like he sprayed them down with a pressure washer right before being photographed. The condition of your 90 doesn't surprise me. I won't buy a saw from him. Glennerdog (or something like that) is another seller to avoid (and he often has very desirable models). He sold one of us in the McCulloch thread a junker of an SP-80 a year or so ago. Condition was MUCH worse than the description. Accused the buyer of swapping parts and making things up. Wouldn't make things right.........and ebay/paypal eventually sided with the seller. Some great guys in the Mac thread ponied up some parts to make the saw a runner.

I also bought the 80 power head for parts. But not much to salvage with so much water damage. I thought maybe I was getting a saw that I could make running again, if I wanted to...no chance of that. Instead I got a saw that most likely had been underwater for a period of time. If not underwater, then it sat out in the weather/rain for yrs & yrs. It was the "has compression and piston & cylinder looks clean" part that got me.

From the amount of corrosion inside the saw, I'd say it sat outside forever and/or was partially submerged. You know, I can understand people's differences in item condition terms like 'minty', 'excellent', 'very good' etc. But this is just fraud plain and simple and lack of disclosure. At worst, I thought I would get a good parts saw, but I got a worthless hunk.

By comparison, the guy in Arkansas sold me a winner for about the same amount-slightly more. All original 90, all factory parts. The only problem was gas was left in the tank for yrs & yrs. The worst case of varnish goo I ever saw. I used carb cleaner, diesel, BB's....finally resorted to lacquer thinner. Unfortunately, all the original red paint was still inside the tank. Took me forever to get all that out, because the lacquer thinner destroyed that. But nothing in the auction led me to believe it was anything more than a parts saw. The saw is pristine, except for the tank.....once I got all the sawdust and sap off everywhere. I'm just finishing with it today and will pull on it in a few hrs.:msp_wink:

Be careful about posting about bad ebay deals. Awhile back, that was kind of a problem that the mods dealt with because of clutter. Bummer on the deal, though.

Thanks for the tip. I'm done, hopefully the seller has heard and as much as I'd like to broadcast his deed to the world, he's not worth it or the time.

On a more positive note, got the Arkansas 90 running yesterday. All I can say is NICE! Gotta find a bar for it now....the last bar I got @Baileys for my 80 had to be modified to fit the bar studs. I don't wanna go through that again...
