Dean,
Not that I'm trying to get you to keep the old flywheel, but I've had a number of flywheels that had one puller hole stripped out of the three. It's very easy to carefully tap to the next size metric hole and replace your puller screws with the next larger. The flywheel material is soft, probably mag or aluminum and you can dry tap a hole very easily. I'd love to have a NOS jug for the 90, but honestly, since I haven't even worn out my 80 in the last 30 yrs of use, I'm doubtful I'll ever wear out this low hr 90 in my lifetime!

Kev, I need a couple of pieces. Would you happen to have the bearing and spacers for the piston on a 90?

Also, could you share you capers contact.

Thanks

Dean, here's the Caber supply place:http://www.hlsproparts.com/small-engine-piston-rings-s

I don't have an extra bearing or disc spacers that don't show a lot of wear. I bet the bearing might cross with a Husky though....maybe Robin would know? When I was rebuilding my Husky 2100, I was able to get the bearing, but no wrist pin. If you can run your fingernail over the wrist pin and feel a pretty evident depression where the bearing was, I'd try for another pin somewhere. And if there was a substantial depression on the wrist pin, I'd check for lateral slop on the con rod bearing, down on the crank.

Thanks Kev, there is a NOS bearing on ebay p/n 504 23 27-00 which seller claims is for an 80. He wants $20.
My 90 IPL calls for p/n 4232700 so I'm guessing it would fit.

The pin seems good and the rod is nice and tight on the crank.
Thanks for the caber link.

Thanks to Member Flat47 for the delivery of a 90.

Picked it up friday nite. Even though the case was busted, (both sides were broken where the rear handle connects) there were lots of goodies to be stripped.
Complete flywheel, points plate, two carbs, air filter, clutch parts, clutch cover, crank/rod, oiler, coil and assorted nuts, bolts.

I stripped everything off, split the case and threw the halves away.

I saw that bearing after I posted early this morning. 80/90 same wrist pin and bearing....just larger jug, piston and rings than the 80. That's why so many have converted their 80's to the 90. My 80 will run right alongside my 90, albeit with a smaller bar.

LOL...getting saws delivered is like Xmas....could do that everyday!! I had the same thing...a 80 case that was cracked and I stripped & bagged everything. Usually, I would bring a saw back, but that was beyond me. Very cool to recycle these old saws!

A guy on ebay has parted out a 910 and selling the parts individually. I'm bidding on most of them so please don't bid against me, thanks!

I see that you have plenty of 49SP's so I'm looking for an answer. Do the 49SP gas caps all turn in and out real hard ? I have only one but I need pliers to get the cap off or to tighten. It's a great running saw bit it has this one problem. I replaced the points with an electronic upgrade from NAPA and the saw is now fine, but I would like to fix the cap problem.

No they don't.....same cap for all older Jonsereds...should screw right in easy and unscrew with regular hand pressure....sometimes when the gasket gets old and hard they can be a pain to get started but once moved should unscrew very easy.

Replaced my chewed up 90 flywheel today with one from the donor saw I received.
Looks much better, even the fins were scarred on the old one.

btw- this wheel was completely covered in oil and sawdust but a couple episodes in the harbor freight ultra sonic cleaner and it came out really well.
I didn't even need to wire brush it!!

Lol...I snipe everything these days. Before that, I rarely won anything. Most of the time now it's snipe against snipe....lol

If you really want something bad Robin, let me know and I'll back off. Most of those parts I really need to fix the 910 I have.

I don't know if this is your case, but I bought some aftermarket oil & gas caps for the older J'reds. So far the oil cap is OK. The gas cap on the other hand expanded so much I could hardly get it off. And when i did get it off it was too tight going back in. It's just the quality of the aftermarket plastic or bad molding...whatever, I'm not buying anymore. They were from an ebay vendor.

Looks nice Dean! Be sure to put some turbine oil or something similar on the starter dawg's posts.

Sounds like they must be made from the same material they make the small poulan gas caps from........leave gas in them over the winter and you can't get them off without tools!!! Junk......OEM Jonsereds don't do that...I 've had some that the gas had gone to black goo and I still didn't have any cap problems....

Naw you go for it Kev.......like I said...I'm always shuling around for parts.....and nothing I need right now. I know your working on your 910 project.......I got one real nice runner and 3-4 to build...in no rush...go for it. and good luck!!!
We've had a hard day here.....snowing since daylight......14" of wet heavy snow now....NOAA says at least 2" more coming tonight.....wind gusts to 60 knts (like 75 mph) .....38,840 meters without power.......I'm up on generator power......have been for 2-3 hrs.......LOL!!!

Nice Dean........it worked fine the way it was.......but the closer to perfect you can get the better.......

Thanks guys for the info, I finally took some fine files to the cap and trimmed the threads down somewhat and deepened the grooves a bit. That seemed to help. We'll see more tomorrow after the gas has sat in it for a while.
