One difference is the 451 cylinder has the coil mount built into. The coil for the 50 is the the recoil cover.

But do they all? One version of the 451 had the coil in the sparkplug boot same as the 910....but that cyl was probably the one fitted for the Nordfeller attachment. But I can't say for sure without diving into the 451 boxes.....but I tend to agree with you and Niko... I believe a totally different P&C sets for both the 451 and 50.

Anyone care to hazard a guess on this on? Looks like it may be a 630. Broken brake flag.

Are they any good? Parts availability?

Thanks

Can't tell much from the pic as to which one it is 625, 630 or 670....probably not a 670 as they had taller air boxes......most likely an early 630. Good saws......some parts still available from dealers.......but many, many used parts around at reasonable prices.....aftermarket and a number of engine upgrades available too....fit in with the larger (as in more saws in the family) Husky 266, 268, 272 etc. etc. family. Personally those familys are my goto saws for firewood work...I have a 90 630 Super and a modified 61 that do the lions share of the work when I get into the woods....smooth and fast.....

I agree. The gas cap (if original) points to an early 630, but so many of those parts get swapped around it's hard to tell. I also like these saws, my 630V is probably my favorite saw in the winter. Gotta love that heat................

I have a 630 V too......but have never ran it....it's on the build list...needs a new case gasket...failed right under the muffler through to the oil tank.....other than that it's in very good condition. One owner.....never took it to the woods...ordered his firewood tree length and used the 630 to fit it up in his back yard.

But I do have a couple 521s.....with "2 speed" heat so I know what you mean...pretty nice.....

LOLOL!! t would seem I do.......spike60 and I got in a bit of a race yrs ago....as to who had the most 49sps.....I won...eventually......I actually think he gave up, more than me winning...LOL!! However....I have always kept 2-3 49s and all the parts ready to build at a moments notice to defend my title...LOLOL!!! I do like those little guys......my first and only Jondereds bought new......wore it completely out........it's the one at the top of the pic with the Sugi bar....that saw put food on the table for three winters as well as laying up 24 cord of hardwood per yr for the farm....for six yrs........then it worked for 10 more yrs selective logging with a 70E to feed my diesel sawmill.....it needed every thing.......crank...P&C...top handle...a lot. Still had it when I joined AS and learned I could fix it...though parts were NLA....it's the leader of the pack now!!!

I could have easily become a 80 collector/fanatic like that....the saws seemed to be around and mostly at decent prices. And like you, it made income for me for decades...the same saw. But unfortunately, the saws are shared with about 10 other hobbies. Like they say, it's a CAD thing...hard to resist....lol Man, if somebody offered me like a truck load of saws I was interested in......I don't know how I could saw no...lol There are some guys over on the Husky forum with unbelievable stacks of build-able saws....I wanna say something, but I don't dare.

But man, you've actually done it and lived to tell the tale!!!

Here it is. Some trouble uploading the pics so there's one duplicate for some reason.

It is a 630. The old boy fired it up for me. It was tuned pretty good but needs a fuel line and carb kit for sure as well as a much needed cleaning. It's got a 16" bar on it but I will likely put a 20" I have on it.

It's in pretty good shape under the grime but somebody done chopped his brake hand off so I'll need to get a new flag. The brake is functional.

Gorgeous place he had with a large pond out front surrounded by trees and a pool and barn in the back. Nice secluded spot. The couple was in their late '70's and had just sold the place.

Nice score, Tim!!

Looks like it will clean up just fine. The flag shouldn't be a problem....look on the bay to get an idea of Internet pricing....subtract at least 50% for local pricing...lol

Nice one Tim. I managed to pick up a complete 630 with a rotted out fuel line ('82 IIRC) a month ago. It is interesting, as the 630 came with a very nice 22" Cannon. Odd bar length (?) but must have pulled well in the conifers around here. Personally, I am starting to really enjoy my saws that have 18" on them. The 630 needs new line etc., and a clutch spring to start. I did see the Husky PN's cross over and are available for some parts like fuel lines, seals, O-rings etc. It will be nice to compare it to my 625. Seems like a really solid saw and a nice, clean layout to work on. The oil pumps are strong and I like the "non-ergo" handle bar on it.

As much as I am loathe to admit it, I have a feeling my 036 will become redundant with 625's and 630's around. No biggie...

From what I've heard you may be right on the 036. It would make a good trader though.
