I'm trying to learn what chain is best (for the money) and trying to stock some chain in 100ft. rolls for myself, friends, family and a few potential customers. I feel and so do some people that I know that the Stihl is the best for normal large firewood cutting on OAK,Mesquite,Pecan, etc. But It seems the K3L or 22LPX works just as well from what I've felt using my MS290. If you read the cross reference charts, it looks like the RS is actually one notch more aggressive on the chart, but......I'm thinking that is just if you want to use the nose for cutting, not just for normal cross cuts. The bumper link or guard link may not change anything on normal cuts. Am I wrong or on the right track. Just trying to make sure I'm understanding and can explain this to people that prefer the Stihl Chain. I can save about $8-$12/chain.

I have used all 3 in .50 gauge and would just as soon use the lpx as the rs. The carlton would be my 3rd choice of these 3.
That's what I've been told by a professional logger & one that worked on Saws for years professionally. That is also my feeling, as I have used all 3. I feel the RS may be slightly better but not worth the extra money when I can build the other brands right here in my own shop. I don't know of a way to buy Stihl chain without going through a dealer (which makes it very expensive).
