It amazes me how fast parts have dried up for these. I built mine from mostly NOS parts just 3-4 years ago.

Yeah I've had a time finding parts. Dennis has the brake handle and filter base that i robbed from another saw.....thank goodness.

Give Wiggs a shout on the that carb box in your sig Brad.......

nice build randy. ive only ever ran one before, it was strong but seemed very heavy for the power. but it was still a stock saw. hear yall are getting pounded out that way with the rain. here at the house weve gotten nearly 2 in of rain since yesterday evening:msp_scared:

Cool beans! If that is the saw I am thinking of, I lobbied hard for it to the owner to get a pro going over, top to bottom, everything. It looks dang spiffy now!

Randy man I love your threads. But ya' gotta stop this madness. Geeezzzz talk about fueling CAD.

What I did last night??

Let's see, scrounged up an old degree wheel, drill chuck and bent some stiff electric fence wire in a funny shape. Right beside an 046 I'm in the middle of a build on. Meanwhile I have 3 sets of Evo heads waiting for attention (looking awful lonely right now).

And if that's not bad enough, now I'm trying to justify a need for an 084/088 type saw.................

For years Brads threads had this effect and I resisted oh so well but I'm getting weaker and weaker ( I actually cracked open the Two Stroke Tuners handbook for some reading this morning) This madness really has to stop.

I'll be out on a fire assignment and all I can think about is: "Which saws can I send to Randy?"

I can relat buddy.

It started with that Mission Backpack Raffle MS460 from Brad ( I knew I had to get rid of it quick!!), now it's a cylinder that Randy and Durand worked over..............geeeezzzzz.

I bet this is the same one. I must say that the owner bout drove me crazy with PMs.....

He's just really anxious to get his saw back.....I understand that. This saw has been one of those saws though........I didn't think I would ever get the parts to do it up right. :(

You can start with that Homelite 550. :D

We'll be going though your 028S in a few days......

Looks like you got to that one just in time Randy. Wouldn't even want to hear a quote on a jug and piston for one of those. Make a man swell up in tears.

They're not even available anymore as a new part from the factory. You have to find NOS on a dealer's shelf, but luckily there's quite a few of those.

Crazy how that works hugh?

I joined this forum to search for tips on how to fix my old saw.

Got sick of working on my old saws, bought new saws.

Got reading all the build threads.

Now all I want to do is work on saws.

Tears down running saw to make it faster.:bang:

Next step: Spend money to make it Really fast.

5yrs. from now uses alky bike saw to cut 15 cord of fire wood.

CAD!!!!!

I'm afraid I may head in that direction, on the end of my bench is a105 inch stroker motor and on the floor is a CR250 with a blown trannie, some1/4" and some 3/8" aluminum plate in the other room. Gettin' awful scarey........

I don't know about the stroker, but the 250 sounds like its beggin' to be a saw.

Popcorn is in the microwave.:msp_biggrin:

This is starting to look like a saw too me.
But I don't know.

So your saying you need a strong clone?:eek:uttahere2::eek:uttahere2::eek:uttahere2:

I wasn't pushing the decomp button in far enough. :(

I told Jon to give it a try........no problem when you do it right.

The ignition timing has been advanced 8°........I wonder if I should dial it back down to stock????? :msp_ohmy:

Randy, Randy, Randy, what can I say. You need to work on the "FORD FR9" for "Jack Roush" It would be a bit of a change working on 8 cylinders rather than one.Have you ever done work on a 340 Rotax?I spent 11 years on these things, changing jets, clutch weights, helix-es, pistons rings.Better be careful though as Bard is on your heals, Ken
