I pulled the cylinder off today. piston has a scuff, it's not deep and I can't feel any scratching so I think it'll be ok. Looks bad in the pic. It is a Mahle piston. Have a looksie at that cylinder!! So much for porting my own saw !

WOW!! Someone sure went nuts hogging out those transfers!!!!!!!! What do the intake and ex look like.

Update. Thanks to a member of this site and it being a small world, I have a replacement XPW cylinder on the way to start fresh with. I will assemble it and run some new numbers for a baseline and we will go from there. Still waiting on parts, have to find some parts, and pay for a couple, lol. I vac tested with the old cylinder and the bottom end held. I will vac test again with the new cylinder after it's assembled with Yamabond 4. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone !

Love them Totals !

I hope it doesn't have the cutoff saw cylinder. From what I understand, they're ported way differently for different powerbands, with the cutoff saw being much lower. A quick Google search does look like it's a 372 cylinder though. My only other concern would be the bearings on a concrete saw.

I have degree wheeled a few 371K cylinder and many 372XP cylinders. The port openings and durations are the same.

Part Number 968 27 44-01 as written on the ID tag is the part number for a 371K case. Since you have a 371K case, I suggest you look at the crank on the clutch side. Remove the clutch drum and drum bearing, usually the crank has significant wear in the bearing area. The down side of a worn crank is that the drum will sit off alinement when the clutch is not engaged. When the clutch engages the drum, drum alignment will come true.

Thanks, I will investigate that.

No, I didn't get the chance.

So how do you know it wasn't already a screamer? You should at least give it a chance. It only takes a few minutes to swap topends. What are you doing with that topend? I'd bolt it on my saw just out of curiousity to see how it ran. If it runs like trash, then it can go in the recycle pile.

It probably was a screamer...lol To make a long story short, the hogged out cylinder is on its way to JJ and he is sending me another one. I was looking forward to doing my own work on it.

Im still waiting for the stinkin starter pulley to get here so that's why I didn't get the chance to run it. I was curious but oh well.

That says something right there if JJ wants it:)

If I'd known you needed a starter pulley, I would have included one with the cylinder.

I don't want it because I think it'll make a screaming saw, moreover I just need a cylinder for a saw my brother sent down the hill with a big tree over at the coast.

BTW- there shouldn't be any issues with the crank in this saw. I provided the crank to the seller and it was a nice, nice crank out of a smashed 372 that had maybe 8 or 9 hours on it.

Thanks JJ, I bought a pulley last week, just not here yet.
