Here's a nice little one I put together a few weeks ago. I've had this 2-10G for some time. It had a junk bullfrog carb and a junk fuel tank (all corroded). Ted gave me a later 10-10 with a Walbro carb to swap parts to the 2-10G. Pretty straightforward cleaning the parts up and replacing the seals. Turns out to have dynamite compression.

I was hoping to use the 10-10 tank with the earlier 2-10 tank and filter covers to preserve the original look. However, I ran into problems with the carb choke flap hitting the filter when it was tightened down. At first, the filter cover sat too high when tightened down, maybe 5/16". I ground the inside of the cover to sit it down flush, but then the cover would jam the filter against the choke flap. In the end, I used the squared off 10-10 top covers that went along with tank and carb. I know 2-10s could come with Walbros so I'm wondering what was different between the tank/airbox, filter bracket, or carb that allowed one to use the old 2-10 covers.

Enough yakking, here's the awesome running and cutting saw. Anybody have the pseudo full-wrap handlebar? I see the recoil already has the extra spacer cast in to accept the wrap.

Do you have the aluminum spacer under the carb? I think my my 5-10A has the same covers as the 2-10 but came with an HS instead of the SDC or bull frog..

It came to me with the DSP plugged. Compression is down so not really a factor. This saw had a lot of "personal touches" added before it came to me. I was struggling to remember who found it and sent it to me but the initials DC in the photos reminded me it was Drew Crane from B.C. if I recall correctly.

I have the plastic spacer from a 10-10. Doesn't look like that could get any thinner before the carb sits on top of the manifold bolts. I checked my carb#, SDC37. The 2-10 and 5-10 IPLs I have both spec the SDC2. Could it be these are different heights? Either that, or the airbox/tank has slightly higher sides to compensate.

Mine's a Canadian saw and I have a copy of an IPL that calls out the HS carb. The height diff between an SDC and an HS is only around .015"

The aluminum spacer is 0.20" thick. The AF cover attach bracket is the same as the one pictured in Mark's 5-10 above and mine has the same tank top and AF cover as his as well. I see the spring loaded choke shaft and twist lock choke button are the same as well.

I just noticed the saw has the wrong AF cover in the photos. I have since replaced it with the standard low profile cover from the -10 series saws.

Now there's something you don't see everyday! Cool stuff Mark!

795.jpg I just picked up a 795 and was wondering if anyone had an IPL for it? I pulled the muffler and the piston/rings/bore look really good but it seems low on compression, I don't think that the compression release is stuck open. Would new rings bring the compression up? Also does anyone know the part number for the rings? Anything I should beware of when tearing it down?

I have several different IPL's for the 795 but the files are too big to post here. Send a message with your e-mail and I can forward one.

The 795 has a steel or cast iron liner so it is possible that rings alone would not bring the compression back up. You should have a good look at the DSP valve and port to make sure there is no damage that would cause it to leak since a scorched valve and seat could be difficult to correct.

There are different piston and ring part numbers listed in the IPL's depending on the serial number, but the master list calls for piston 62877 and rings 58353. Someone has been listing 62422 rings which agree with the 1969 IPL for model number 600125. There are oversize piston and ring sets available if it needs to be bored oversize.

A while back someone (customchainsawparts?) must have found a truckload of NOS 795 cylinders as they were available on eBay for some time.

There seems to be a lot of NOS795 cylinder/crankcases available since the same power head was used by several different cut off saw manufactures.

PM sent, I need to check the serial number on the bottom of the crank case to determine the rings. Because it has an iron/steel liner I can lightly hone it to seat the new rings, right? I will definitely look at the DSP closely when I take it apart. I saw that it has a flat back carb, I assume that Sugar Creek Supply makes kits for it? or would an HL swap just make life easier?

Also, wide vs skinny rings? what are the dimensions?
I have a few older Macs, S44A, 1-50, 55 and they only came with one size of ring as far as I am aware.

Hey guys, maybe someone here will have some suggestions. I just picked up a complete mc culloch 1-51, which is locked up. Pulled the muffler and it was completely full of black carbon. I’m trying to determine if the piston or the crankshaft is locked up or maybe both. So I’m not sure as to what to try next as I have no history on this saw.

I have an SP81 that after a good soaking with penetrating oil loosened up and an PM700 that with the same treatment did not turn out so good. Lots of penetrating oil and some time will give you your answer.

I posted this over on the "other" site but figured I would post here too.
I just bought a 1-52 off e-bay on a whim for sentimental reasons. Anyway, it's a basket case. I am currently working on getting it running. I suspect someone swapped the air of and carb to the primer flatback that's in it now because from my research it should have a tilly. The primer doesn't work and it is fuel flooding the crap out of itself.
Long story short, I want to put it back to the tilly but I need the correct carb, adapter, and choke linkage. I would also entertain the idea of complete or partial saws either for parts or just a better example of a 1-52. I don't have much of interest to trade, I do have a complete decent running D30 I could trade or a very lightly used very good running timber bear. Or we could work out a cash deal
Thanks
Kevin

P.S. Pictures for fun
