The 10 Series flywheels are all the same and the electronic ignition coils (modules) used on the 10 Series and 600 Series are all the same except for the length of the spark plug wires. But, the older points style ignition cylinders have a different mount for the coil than the later electronic ignition type. I never really looked to see if they could be converted easily but I think the answer is no.

Electronic ignition coil mount on a PM800

I know that Ron Woods has mentioned the length of the crankshaft is different between the PM800 and the PM850 & 82 cc SP models but I haven't noticed that one myself. Al Smith on another site also mentioned having to trim the coil mounts on a PM800 to accommodate a different flywheel/coil set up but I don't remember the particulars about that.

Bottom line in my opinion is if you saw came with a points ignition, you need to keep the coil and points with that block.

Quick question.. Have maybe 5 or 6 , 610&650 carcasses in the garage. The ignition systems will work on my 10 series saws?.. 10-10s/7-10s, on down the line?. Thanks, K

I've heard of low-balling, but that 55 price is ridiculous. If that sells I'm gonna slap a coat of paint on all my 10 series saws, and maybe even the cat.. IMG_20171102_103435.jpg

To answer my own question, yes he was the same one with the $1500 Super Pro 81. That sold, via 'best offer'. No idea how much it actually went for. Better get the yellow paint out...

Please read post 27827 above, the 600 Series coils will only work on saws with electronic ignition to start with. The coils and the mounts are different.

PM10-10S should be an electronic ignition, so yes the 600 Series coil will work if you cut the spark plug lead to the correct length. There is no 7-10S, 7-10A is points ignition so the electronic coil won't work.

Thanks Mark,. Is the 10-10 the only saw in the series that has electronic ignition?

I am thinking the 10 Series must be a frankensaw with the fast back style fuel tank and AF cover, cube carburetor, and LH starter. May have been a 5-10 that had been refit with the starter but hard to know for sure. If it is in fact a 5-10 you will likely enjoy running it as they are pretty peppy 70 cc saws.

The Mini Mac is a 155 or 165. I am still looking for one or both of those to add to my collection with the unique rear handles compared to all the other Mini Mac saws.

There was a cover that would snap over the clutch to help keep dust & such out of the mechanism.

Hey guys I have seized a pro Mac 850 thinking its the crank seal on the clutch side..the saw would stall if turned on its bar would that be a sign of an air leak? When I took it apart some of the needles had fallen out of the piston bearing would that be because one side the side with the leaky crank bearing got to hot and expanded enough to let them fall out?? The saw ran fine and idled until it came to a halt except for when on its one side. So is it safe to assume the bearing as the culprit if so anyone know where I can get one or can you just replace the rubber seal?also what fuel ratio do you guys run in these old saws just curious should it be more oil?

I run 32/1 in my 82cc MACs. Some run 40/1 and report no problems.

Sorry can’t help you on the bearing issue. I have bought a couple that spit the rollers and boggered up the piston and the cylinder.
