1-40, it should say underneath, that oiler is interesting.

It's on the Spokane CL for 50 mackerels or best offer. I wasn't sure what it was, as I'm not up on all my old Mac ID's.

That old bar cover would make a good wall hanger.

Especially with that super long bar...

On the bottom handle brace for a 797, will it interchange with any other saws like the 790, 795, 890, or 895? Mine is busted up where it bolts to the cylinder.

I have been looking on ebay, and havnt found anything on there right now. But being able to look for the parts listed for another saw will help. I am sure one will come up, even if its on a parts saw.

Its close, but a little different. Looks like the SP125 but has the two bolts side by side like that one. I am sure one will turn up and I have time. I was just trying to get an idea what other saws used that same part so if I saw it listed for another saw I could get it.

The brace for the 700/800 saws is different than the brace for the 1-40/50/60 and 200/300/400'/500/600 saws.

As Lee points out, the brace from the 1-70/80 Series saws is the same part number as the one for the 700/800 saws (57872).

The brace for the SP105/125 were different again with their anti-vibration mounting.

There was a time when i could find
some of these cast parts for the Mac's
pretty easy, But seems like the old new
parts are drying up. My last couple orders
i have put in have come up emply on a lot
of these type of parts.

Mine was a 1-42 and there were plenty of them at the time. That one probably wouldn't fit yours?

The 1-42 & 1-43 originally didn't come with a handlebar brace. They had a yellow plastic bumper covering the hole in the lower end of the rear handle. You could put a handle brace on one easily enough since all of the necessary mounting holes are there. I guess that was some marketing genius's idea at Mac HQ, of making another cosmetic alteration besides the normal switching of color combinations on the air filter & clutch covers, half wrap or full wrap handlebars, & stack pipe or round mufflers. Makes it a bit more difficult to put your foot in the "stirrup" while starting the saw on the ground, when there's no stirrup there to speak of. That brace also takes some of the wear & tear that the crankcase, crankcase cover, & fan housing would otherwise be subject to. It also makes it a bit easier to maintain your grip, & offers some protection to your hand. The brace would also helps prevent accidental throttle activation. in a time when grip safeties had yet to be developed.

New to me 35. Needs a good cleaning and a filter/cover. My first Mac, I have a feeling there's more in my future. :greenchainsaw:

Congratulations! I bet you feel like the kid in school who just got a really cool lunchbox.;) The construction of the early McCullochs is remarkable. They were engineered & built to last with some proper care. Back in their day, the owner's manuals contained instructions on how to do minor adjustments & repairs. (Today, it is all about the legal disclaimers.)

Send me your e mail address in a PM if you would like a copy of the IPL.:chainsaw:

These saws are not for the mechanically challenged! :dizzy:
