Just missed you guys LOL. Have to work today so I went to bed early. The beer was another reason I was out early LOL, beer and pizza birthday dinner:cheers:.

Anybody need a 6-10a piston. I was going to see if it would work for the 7-10a, and it wont. I figured I could use the rings if it didnt fit, but while cleaning the piston I found it was trashed and now have to find another. So if anybody is in need of a 6-10 piston let me know, I have one I cant use.

10-10 re-bar mod :)

OR,,,how to keep your Mac from falling over..
i think it would look better chromed !! :)
from a 6-10,i kept the back handle off it for another saw...so,,if anybody needs any 6-10 parts, besides this and the muffler PM me..

A big Mac day today

After stripping the 6-10 i was on a roll :)
so i dug out a 610 !

didnt even wipe it down for the pic..looked in the fuel tank,it was dry, filter clean and line supple..so i put mix in it and a 1/2 doz pulls it fired off and ran .... air filter was clean, saw was taken care of..is one of 32 given to me last month..

So,,after THAT one wasnt much fun to get going i dug out THIS old beast.. Mac 450.

Pulled over good, checked and it had spark..had to find some bolts to hold the starter on and noticed the stop switch wire was broken from the coil..thot,,if i get it started with fuel in the tank and no real choke, how do i stop it ??? fixed it..starter bolts easy, sae thread stuff :)
mix down the throat and it fired off !!
dumped out the 10 yr old stuff in the tank and new mix in..should have cleaned the filter and lines and carb,,but ,,dint want to touch as so old, just wanted to see if it would run..you can see from the video it MAY need to run awhile to clean out !! LOL !!

The oiler dont seem to work... push on it and no travel,no pushing oil..anybody got any insight ?? the rod just dont travel at all foreward.

Ron - It is not uncommon for the oiler to get stuck, often you will find corrosion in the bore. Don't ask me how since it is oil but this comes up with some regularity on the old McCullochs. Normally the only fix is to pull the oil tank off and work the piston out. I have had success at times getting them out with air pressure back through the oil discharge hole once you remove the check valve.

If I recall, the 450 is 90 or 91 cc and fairly brutish in the torque department.

1-42

Wondering if you guys can give me any info about this saw. Its in real good shape. Has spark and 125psi. P/C look real good. I know this saw will run with a prime, might even with fresh mix thru the tank! Even has the original etched MC bar. I know its 80cc, thats about it.

Tnx Mark,,87cc...
oil tank COVER off ?? that do it ??
where is the check valve to remove to blow the piston out ??
all new area for me here :)

Joe - Look on the bottom of the saw, most likely you will find it stamped 1-42 or maybe 1-43. Unless someone has removed the lower brace from the rear handle, the 1-42 and 1-43 were the only ones sold that way.

125 PSI is not bad for one like that. Chances are the piston is bushed rather than needle bearings for the small end of the rod but lots of saw ran lots of hours that way.

Ron - It is really a 90 or 91 cc saw, 2.165 x 1.500, 5.5 In³.

Send me a PM with an e-mail address and I can send an IPL.

To get to the oiler piston on that one will require removing the oil tank & cover and the fuel tank cover and fuel tank. Not a task for the feint of heart. The external check valve will be located behind the bar if it has one, most with the automatic oiler (which coincedentally is inside the oil tank) don't have the external check valve unless someone added it when the internal (part of the automatic oiler) quit working. See my 440 thread for some details on the oiler, the 440 is similar except that the pulse operated oil pump on that one is mounted on top of front mounted oil tank.

Well guys, I have the 790 here in a box... it came yesterday... problem is my car is down, so that has a priority... :bang:

Workbench still hasn't been cleaned off for the saw yet, so it will sleep in the box for a few days or a week or so, hopefully not more than a week.

I still am excited that I will be rebuilding a six cube saw!!!! :blob2::blob2::blob2:

Thanks again!!!
