I saw that, I do have enough pieces for several. Whats the difference or is it all porting?

Porting and, I believe, the compression ratio/head cc. There was a high compression head offered with a smaller chamber, but I don't know how the "standard" one compared to the saws.

thanks, that was my guess (although I never would have come close to the right acronym)... not intentionally showing that I am a complete dunce, but where is it on a 10-10A? the label instructions indicate to press it. i have the ipl, but not the user manual and I can't find anything to press anywhere other than the standard stuff.

Shold be a button below and to the right of the choke, unless someone replaced it with a bolt. I have at least one block here with that "modification."

Thanks Lee, your right, should be minimal work to make it a great runner seeing that she already runs. Any idea on the chain?

Could be a carbide chain, maybe they were cutting something extremely dirty, like railroad ties or "fenced" trees. Are all the cutters like that? I doubt it was used in concrete with that roller bar.

I think the 101 has larger transfers, which can be seen from the outside as bulges on the side of the block. I don't know the real numbers, but I have both, and the 101B has a lot more power and top end than the stock 125C.

I can't get the search function to work tonight but I believe DSP stands for Decompression Starting Port. As CPR said, on a 1010S it should be just below the choke and to the right of the spark plug. Ron

That's what I'm thinking. The saw does not have much use, the bar still has some original paint on it and nothing that looks like it was used to cut ties or poles. Seller said it was his grandfathers pride and joy, ran only occasionally and is all original including the chain.

The only 10-10 model I have seen with a DSP (De Stroking Port) or compression release is the 10-10E where it is incorporated into the starter control. The compression release itself it like the valve on the CP70, same basic concept on the CP125 and 795/797 saws.

The pop up type compression release was used on the PM55 model and others of that ilk.

If you can't readily see the thing it probably doesn't have one. I think all the de-comps on those saws are in about the same spot so maybe some parts swapping has been done. I have about 3 of those saws without the de-comp valve and 1 with.

The only 10-10 variant that would have the pop-up decompression valve would be the 10-10 "S" model, which is the last version made IIRC. A 10-10A is too old and would not have it.

There's a possibility that the saw really is a regular 10-10, or frankensawed together with various nice 10-10 parts, etc.

I reckon there supposed to be a decomp right on the cylinder near the spark plug... but there isn't. Intriguing, said the shop monkey.

mcculloch playing 'stump the dummy'

McCulloch, according to Mark, liked to do that.

"Hey!!! Let's change the part numbers!! Ooh!! How about making a generic 10-10 instruction sticker!!!" He probably was all :blob2: and  and :ices_rofl: and :jester: over the whole pile of ideas...

:D
