Wow that's one CLEAN, low-time lookin' PM800. Looks like your Dad took good care of it, and I'm sure you will too. Welcome to the 82cc McCulloch club. I dig the old Case in the background too. Long live the OLD IRON!

I ran a PM800 1 fall side by side an xl925 homy, Mac felt way better in every way, raced them, all Mac. Next year I ran an 064 for the first time and it didn't feel any better then the 800 from what I remembered. How are the PM 800's for reliability cutting professionally ??? I wouldn't mind having 1 if it worked and was cheap enough.
I had an PM 805 and 820 that I picked up at auctions. Neither ran right and I sold them in parts lots on ebay rather then attempt fix them. Are they almost identical to the 800 ?

I'm a big PM800 fan. As with all used saws some run better than others. I believe the 805 is virtually identical. The 8200 has a different crank and rod (thre piece crank). Ron

Yeah dad is real fussy with his saws,he done real good looking after this one ,he bought it new in the 80's and cut fire wood and fence posts with it every year till mid 90's when he sold the family farm, between the two of us that saw cut some timber, that old 1370 case is a beast:msp_smile:

The same fellow that has that container load of McCulloch bars & parts has at least 20 PM800's in various stages...and lots of other saws as well. When the weather cools off a bit and I get some time we are hoping to get together again and go through some of it in more detail.

Mark

Mark, please keep your eyes out for intact clutch covers with the DSP cutout (chain brake is incidential). Thanks, Ron

Hi all,
I am still working on an 81E, rebuilt the carb, and it just seems to flood and run real rich. Now I got to thinking it may not be the right carb. The one on there has a single screw and I can not lean it out enough with out running out of idle adjustment. Any thoughts or does any one know what carb came with these saws? If I lean it out so that the chain flies around the bar it will just dig in and cut great but.......

Thanks
In advance
Dave

Sounds like you got the fixed high jet carb...

If the metering lever in the carb is not set right, it will either be too lean, or too rich.

Ron will be able to tell you everything you might want to know about these Macs.

Oppps sorry didnt read the post above.

So by metering lever you mean the the fork that runs the needle valve from the diaphragm? I messed with that a bit and seemed to help.
