Brian - 0.018" will work for the point gap.

Splitpost - I recently picked up a 35 with the ice auger attachment but it cost me $75 American. Only problem is the newer auger that came with it is RH pitch, apparently the gearbox was intended for a LH pitch screw, doesn't matter though when it is hanging on the wall. By the way, it starts and runs very well, pretty good testament to the old design and construction.

I have original IPL's for the earth auger and brush cutter attachments for the 250 type saws, I would like to find the attachments one day although I can't imagine ever trying to use either one.

Splitpost, unless you actually split posts for fencing just remind yourself that a MAC was might for cutting wood not digging post holes, this may bring you some comfort - otherwise continue on :bang:.

Ron
Yes i split post for fencing, this would have been a CAD moment

sounds like a wrist snapper, hire a mexican to dig your holes.

Now a 99 with attachments would be cool.

yeah didn't intend on using the auger set up was going to restore it and also put a B&C on the saw:bang:

Aaron, yes, bringing a tent this time, dammed acorns.

Nope, no McC paint, have magnetic McC.

We didn't take any direct hits, hearing the acorns hit the table all night makes me think of having some cover.
The showers of leaves and who knows what reinforces that thought.

I'm looking for a clutch cover for a Mac15. Have cash or parts.

Are you talking about the round cap that fits over the clutch its self?
They did not make any other cover. Just the metal cap. The first Mac 15's did
not have the cap, later in the production run they put a caps over the clutch.

Hey guys!
Can any one school me in the differences between the 650 and 660(gear drives)?
Thanks guys!

Pro Mac 800

I came across a pro mac 800 that is about as nice as i"ve seen. All original still has original dealer sticker from Star City Arkansas on it. It has 16" bar, thats strange for that large a saw. It has been sitting a long time, but fired right up, the elderly man bought it new around 1982 (?) and has pasted on, his son now has it. He wants to get a smaller, lighter saw. So, 98% paint, nothing broke, runs fine Whats it worth ? I can't offer any pictures right now. but it is a cream puff.

They are very similar, both are 87cc, the 650 borrows the 300's motor, the 660 has a motor similar to the Super 250. There are structural differences, the 660 has a bit more beef and added gusseting. Both had the option for either a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 gearbox, from what I have seen, 660s had the 3 to 1, while the 650s used mostly the 2 to 1.

You can find HL or FT carbs in both models.

I passed on one near me about 6 weeks ago that was very clean at about $200, it sold for about $325 on eBay. An eBay search of completed listings for that saw shows one at $328 from a very reputable seller. But then, we know that eBay pricing is inflated JUST a bit ..... :msp_scared:

So where does the 640 stand with the 650 and 660? Is it lower HP? I just picked this one up a few days ago. This thing is funny for me to start. I'm left handed and the starter is on the right side of the saw.

The 640 is a whole 'nother critter, top tank, front mounted gearbox, it is in the 1-80/890 family. 80cc motor.

Thanks Randy!!
I see the difference!

So with a small minded attempt, the 650 stands to take a cart engine better?
Wouldn't gain much as the 660 seems to be the grunt of the bunch with the more heavy duty chassis and 3-1 gears.

These lil' 80cc saws have grown on me!
For their size, I wouldn't be afraid to use it to tackle anything a modern 90-110cc saw would do!!!!
Freakin lil' power houses!!!!

Randy pretty much covered it. He has the working experience with them too. When I get home I'll send you the IPL for these saws. MANY minor variations over the 10 or so year production run. The 660 also used the AF cover (with side holes) from the Super 250. All 650/660 saws are 87cc. Used HL's, primer-flatbacks, and choke-flatbacks (like on Super 250 and Super 550 saws). My 650 had a primer-flatback (that I replaced with an HL63), and a 3/1 gearbox. Send me your email addy again Matt.
