AmBull, thanks for the update. As you know there are a lot of claims floating around about the mighty 101B. I just want some real world experience. I believe the experimential aircraft folks rate it as 15hp which if true should mean 15 reliable hp not just get me around the track hp - of course aircraft use should produce plenty of air movement for cooling. I look forward to the videos. Ron

Please help me identify this saw!

This is the first McCulloch I have ever worked on and need to know what it is in order to do so. Thanks!

What tractor is that?

Farmall 756 gas. Radiator sprung a leak is why it's in the garage. It's kinda my project that I bought put a little money in rebuilding the motor and gettin everything on in good mechanical workin order and since I have worked the piss out of. I was mowin hay with it earlier this year and had a junk muffler on it that evidently wasn't breathing enough and it got so hot you could see the insides of it :) I really enjoy it though. Would love to have a little newer 666 diesel.

I thought I saw a 'Binder. Good tractors. That's a rare saw to pick as your first McCulloch.

Fix it up and don't ever get rid of it. That bar very well could be original to the saw.

Good luck with that saw .... CAD has been so good to me lately I now have a 'train wreck' of projects .... :)

You and me both Ted. Got me enough to carry me through the winter.............and then some.:dizzy:

Unfortunately it's not mine :frown: It belongs to a fella I work with and even though he knows nothing about the saw i doubt he'll part with it. None the less, I will have an opportunity to run it and maybe I will be able to trade him out of it some day. What is it worth?

wow! that 2-10g is 954cc :msp_wink: ENGINE DISPLACEMENT: 3.3 cu. in. 954cc)

From the air filter cover I would guess a 2-10G.

I stopped by Modified Mark's today on my way across IN and let him try my 10G, unidentified other than the fact that it is a 10 Series and a gear drive.

The bars share the same mount as the other large frame McCulloch saws, but some how a slim bar just look more appropriate on the 10 Series saws.

Today I changed the oil tank on my Super 797.
When I got the saw the oil tank had been epoxied and it looked like
crap to me, So I looked for a better one,it took a while but I found
a NOS one. When I took the tank off inside it had a big glob of epoxy.:msp_ohmy:

OK here goes....

Things did not come out exactly as planned. Not a fair test, because the stock SP125 is running too rich, and it is not adjustable. It was 4 stroking most of the way through the cut. Need to figure out what to do about a carb..... But anyways, even if it is tuned right, it is not keeping up with the 101B's.

Anyways, the wood was hard 20" Ash.

First up was the SP125 stock, running a 32" bar semi skip full chisel .404. Took almost twice as long as the others.

Next was the stock bore 101B. This saw was really impressive, and I think that it won by 1/2 second or so. It has a GEM muffler, which may give it an edge.

Next was the .050 over 101B. I actually richened up the carb, as I took a test cut and it was too lean. A good runner none the less.

Last as a check I ran my favorite work saw. My dual port muffler 395XP. This thing has a 28" bar 3/8 full comp chisel. I brag about this saw to anybody who will listen, lol....
